block doesn't fit? help!

hey guys.

I bought a Asus EN8800GT 512 a coupla weeks back, and now i'm going to watercool it.

I bought a EK-FC88 GT/GTS (G92) from WCUK thinking: Asus EN8800GT 512 = G92, block = G92....so all sweet.

however.....go to put it on today...all the holes align, but I cannot actually put it on because the rear of the card doesn't fit the mosfet block of the cooler.....:/

any ideas guys?

I'm stumped.

I've also emailed wcuk and I waiting for a reply from them.

edit:

just spoken to marcus, and he tells me i need thermal pads to bridge the gap (they weren't included in the kit that i got).

So just leavin this thread here in case ne1 else has the same issues.

so with the EK full cover blocks you dont get the thermal pads? just the block?

i personally didn't.

Marcus said he will send some through the post. But other than when I asked Marcus, I got no response from WCUK (rather strange tbh). I sent 2 e-notes. Maybe Marcus dealt with them by assuming they had been dealt with when i phoned him up.

Hi buddy.... reading your thread we've had no email about this kind of problrm recently ? When did you sent it mate ?

I know on some cards if the Manufacturer strays away from the reference design (and on the 8800GT (92) they have done quite alot) this is when we start to have problems with the blocks because all full cover blocks are made to fit the reference board design.

That said you should still have got the TIM pads for that block in the package, please email me rob(at)watercoolinguk.co.uk with your order number and i'll get some sent out to you.

I raised an enote a coupla days ago.

But don't worry to much about it, If you wish, you could give me £1 credit at your store (w00t!!!!), as I went ahead and purchased some tim pads regardless.

After consultation with Marcus, we both came to the conclusion that stupid Asus had changed the reference design, thus the idea we came up with was take the mosfet cooler off, and buy some enzotech ramsinks (bout a tenna), which i've just put on and i'm hoping it all works sweetly.

Thx for the heads up though, and Marcus has been a great help at arriving to a (albeit annoying, but not wcuk's fault) conclusion.
