Bitfenix Prodigy build

Hi,
Decided to drop the Switch as it was just too big and causing too much of an inconvenience.
Now built 2 new ones instead - one to leave at home permanently, and a Prodigy that I can easily throw in the car and take to and from uni.

Specs:
Bitfenix Prodigy
Intel 3570k @ 4.5ghz
Asus P8Z77-i Deluxe
8gb Mushkin Blackline Frostbyte
500w Silverstone Strider
Sapphire Dual-X 7850
Crucial M4
Coolermaster Seidon 240

Couple of updates coming:
Braided blue/black cables. Current ones are the stock ones from Silverstone which are way too long for a Prodigy, so the short cable kit is on its way, but I am having a the 24pin and 8pin CPU cables braided, and most likely get the SATA cables done too.
At some point I will be looking to upgrade the graphics card (as I don't actually own this one )

Lol, it's not actually that bad tbh. I've built a fair few builds for mates in Prodigys, so I'm used to it.
I know I've not done the best job, but with a different set of cables coming sometime next week hopefully, along with the fact I don't even have the backplate to keep the PSU in place yet I'm not too bothered as I'll do it all properly once I've got all that.
It doesn't help that I've had to mount the HDDs where they are though. With the sound deadening I don't have the main cages (not that I'd use them anyway), but I don't have the side mounting one either which would make things easier.

The fan's a 230mm Bitfenix Spectre Pro.

The Prodigys really are a nice case. Why do you need two rigs over one portable one?

I've really been wanting to downsize my rig too, especially due to my current case..

The only putting me off ITX is no PCI-E for soundcard, so I'd need an external solution. Possibly the better solution overall but it's more money.

Errrr - I don't

I started off building a Prodigy while I still had my Switch.
Decided last week to drop the watercooling...then decided to lose the graphics card...then from there gradually decided to lose more and more haha.

I completely agree with the soundcard thing - that's the only reason I've now built an MATX PC so I can put my STX in there. Knowing me I'll probably end up ditching the Prodigy at some point soon - but for now, I'm quite happy having 2 little machines running

i found that everything was great until i put the PSU in then cable management got a bit crazy would be nice if they came with a bit more space in the PSU cage but i can't complain how many itx cases are as good as the Prodigy?

So you know that 'indestructible plastic/rubber' they put on the top and bottom of the Prodigy as handles and feet....

...turns out if you fall off your chair and land on it...it can break

Bitfenix support better be nice and send me out a new one

It has to be either besides or behind you on the floor?

Heh, my chair swings back a lot naturally anyway. I leaned back too much, the chair toppled, put my hand down to try and break my fall - happened to put it on the Prodigy which was only on the floor behind temporarily as I was testing other things (have about 4 different PCs here atm). I've emailed Bitfenix and they'll hopefully be able to send me a new bottom handle section out.

It's sound deadening foam. I didn't do it myself - bought the case second hand and came pre-modded with fan grills taken out, along with sound deadening all on the inside. There's just a little slit left for the graphics card to get some extra air.

Changed a few things round...

As this isn't really used at all, I downgraded from the i5 to an i3 and going without a GPU. The CM Seidon went into my main rig, and I got a D14 again!

I will get a GPU in there at some point though!

Also - cables are now braided!
