Big Problem with my 5850...

Hey guys

So today i tried to run diablo 3 and WoW 1 on each screen on my 5850.

The pc just totally crashed, never happened before running either game on its own ever. The screens go blank, 1 has like black and greenish vertical stripes and the other just goes black. I have to manually power off and on. Same thing has happened 6 times at various stages of trying to boot up either game. i can still use the pc fine, its just games that are killing it.

I have uninstalled, driver swept and reinstalled newest drivers with no luck.

Any ideas with this? Its an odd issue I really cant solve myself!

What driver version are you using? There are known issues with D3 and the 12.4's IIRC.

latest one off the site, cant remember the version.

There wasnt an issue with either game, its just when i ran them together the pc killed its self and now it wont even open 1 of the games...

grabbed an image of the crash (left monitor is the primary):

EDIT: Just tried to load diablo again, crashed at log in screen with different colours (purple instead of green) so the colours of the crash dont seem relevant.

check for physical damage first, could be just a popped capacitor(easyfix) or your gpu could need reballing(not so easy-requires special machine)

wheres the damage likely to be? Seems really random this would happen now and still work fine for general computer usage

theres no damage to the top side (part you can see in the case) i cant see inside without removing it and taking it apart i guess

EDIT: Reinstalled previous drivers, still got the issue. this time i saw some artifacting on the games log in screen before the crash if that helps narrow it down (card isnt overclocked)

The GSOD or green screen of death was a know driver issue with some AMD cards and it was something to do with drivers, keep trying previous versions.

tried the last 3 driver versions, still got problems. i know that it couldnt have existed in all these versions.

Any more ideas guys?

Could be the thermal paste has dried out on the card try reapplying new paste clean all the dust out and see if it is ok then
