AXA

haha lasher i wouldnt video me doing that
wink.gif
hahah i have one from in the night on my cb .... hmm where is that . but the cb is ALOT slower than it hahah

Well what can I say, your friends bloody stupid. How did he do that with a seatbelt on?

Your responsible for your passengers so cant complain at the points really.

Lesson learnt i guess. ( expensive one if it affected your premiums ) Four years endorsement?

he didnt, it was without...

he paid my fine

he paid his fine

he bought me new tyres (mine were neerly bald(£450)) and he gave me 500 towards my next insurance premium, so atleast he was a good friend...

and it was a 5 year ...

EDIT: and tbh, no, not really, my car will reach a maximum (theoretical) of 115, and thats more than ill ever need, 0 - 60 is about 12 seconds, and thats fine too, im more about saving money at the moment, ive had fast, with my corsa SRi, didnt bother me that much ....

because it managed 23 miles to the gallon, which is awful.

i dunno, my corsa was a force to be reconed with

0 - 60 was sub 10 seconds, top speed was 120*, and it didnt exactly hang around getting there either

*tested on industrial estate, off public roads, at night

a force to be reckond with ?

0=60 in 10s? .....

have you EVER been in a FAST car ?

10seconds 0-60 ? thats SLOW ... hell a stock scoobie is 4.4odd seconds.... and i wouldnt even class that as fast..

im almost certain a 20 year old fiesta rs turbo would blitz a corsa sri and there slouches

fine, ill rephrase it, it was the fastest thing i ever drove

i managed to beat a golf mk4 TDi

and the 2.0 GT-TDi

i also managed to keep up with, and finally overtake a 1.2 clio, 04 plate

so for its class, i dont think it did too bad

it was a 1.4 'ecotec' 88bhp

beat a 2litre gt-tdi ? i bet he wasnt trying... one of them 145bhp 's would have whooped you so hard pulling from 30-100

he really didnt, we were equal upto about 70, and then i just edged forwards ....just....but i won in the end, until we both got to 120, and he still had a bit, he managed to top out on top speed, but 70 - 120 acceleration i had more...

A 1.4 Corsa beat a 2.0 GT-Tdi - I agree with WelshD1k, he couldn't have been trying!

Even if you have had no incidents, insurers still see young drivers as being more of a risk. Its unavoidable really, at least it gets better with age
tongue.gif
. And as for a young driver, who has a history of crashing and getting points - you are a massive risk to any insurer, even if you pay £3000 premium. One incident with a few injuries will easily rack up a £10,000 claim.

Everyone's premiums are going up these days with all the credit hire companies, injuries, fraudsters, cash for crash and just generally people trying to rip insurers off when making a claim. The premiums go up as a percentage, so yes the young drivers will see more of a hike compared to anyone else.

All insurers try to keep the premiums down as low as possible to get the business, but they all need to cover the claims cost, so I wouldn't be pointing at insurers to blame for high premiums - blame the fraudsters and compensation mad country we now live in...

my two crashes

first one

i was on ....what i guess you could describe as a side road, but it was more of a back ally

coming out to a T junction

transit parked to the left, transit parked to the right, a gap in the middle just big enough for a car to get through

a skip directly opposite the enterence...i put the window down, edged out...slowly...

van came out of nowhere, knocked my numberplate off and got a slight scuff on the side of the van, we swapped details and a few impolite words, and he buggered off, he was a complete ******* ******, who deserved to *** the stupid ******

just generally not a nice chap

neway, then 3 weeks later

lawsuit through the post

'whiplash and loss of business'

he wanted 2500 quid!

cheeky ******* sod

so with a lot of talk to the insurers, and showing them my undamaged car, etc etc, eventually he got bartered down to 750 or so in total, including damage to his van (which was a scuff on the bumper)

that was a fail, but better than it could have been i guess

second one

was my fault, but at the same time, it was a careless mistake

long road

cars

solid traffic

inching along

got up a lil bit of speed

everyone slammed on, i had left a DECENT GAP! might i add...

then i slammed on as per everyone else

i didnt know my corsa didnt have abs (second day of owning)

and i didnt know the tyres were RUBBISH in the rain, slid, slid, slid, bump, tinyest little bump into an 09 plate mondaeo

then a tiny lil bit of plastic trim fell off his bumper...

we picked it up, put it back on, no damage other than that, no scuff or anything...

he was nice though, we swapped insurance details

hoping we wouldnt need to...

then i got a letter from his insurers saying his rear bumper was crumpled and needed replacing

so my insurance ended up paying 1100 quid for a new bumper and full respray

F*****g rounded doorhandle .....

so yeah, ...not great

how did you knock ur numberplate off? and scratch the side of a parked van ? and ims ure it cant have been that slow? did you report it to your inshurance?

and second one that is no exscuse. you could have been finned / points for driving without due care and attention for that .

and at the end of the day if someone rear ended my bike or one of my dads cars then he would put it throught the inshurance even if it was a crack // split . it wasnt there before. for example a bloke reveresed into his bmw 325 . cracked numebr plate etc all it looked like because it all sprung back. underneath all the foam was fecked the mountin point had split. what looked like nothing tuenrd out to be a 2k claim for new bumper / headlamps / numberplate and paint....

remember one thing your young with 2 accidents on your claims and youw ant nice cars. then be ready to pay thru your @ss for inshurance. simple as.

dont talk such utter rubish please he cant have even been trying your little 1.4 screamming its @ss off vs a 2litre gt tdi with 2x as much torque and probaly nearign 2x the bhp. will pull away from you in mid range no trouble what so ever.

you might have him off the line but then it was a 1.4echo tech pretend sri not the real 1.8sri . so i smell poo poo my dads 2t passat would whoop your sri and thats only a 115bhp 1.9 model let alone his last skoda octavi sport with 170bhp (close to what the golf has power to weight)

he said he was trying afterwards, and bowed down to me ...

and he isnt one to admit failure easiely (its someone i know, not exactly a friend, an aquaintence)

and maybe, but the 1.4 isnt that much slower than the 1.8, not really...

nooo, the van, that was moving, knocked the numberplate off the front of my car number two, if you look back at page 1 of this thread, you'll see the scrape on my numberplate, and the van i was refering to was the one that was moving, no damage was done to any of the stationary vehicles...

i did report it to my insurance, i had to as soon as i got 'sued'

i was driving with due care and attention, i slammed on, i tried my best to stop, i even tried to steer...but no, no abs = locked up...fail

i like my seat, and ill be keeping it for a few years

ill also add as general advise, insurance companies HATE people who change cars more often than underwear...

needless to say im not liked on that front either...

really?:

"1.4 16V SRi 3d 0-60 10.5 s top speed 111 mph 88 bhp "

"1.8 16V SRi 3d 0-60 8.0 s top speed 126 mph 123 bhp "

vs

"2.0 GT TDI DPF 5d 0-60 9.0 s top speed 127 mph 138 bhp "

and lets remember a diesel isnt all about 0-60 its all about mid range poke / grunt

now tell me once again the 1.4 isnt that much slower than a 1.8 .....

2 seconds? thats like 1/5th faster.... 0-60 and 15mph better top speed

and you said your corsa was faster top end...

please stop lying...

111mph vs 127mph...

its not asif there is a 2-3mph where you could argue weight etc 15mph difference?

So it seems this conversation has turned for the worst
laugh.gif
.

BTW, its not my car, it was my mums car and was seeing if I was able to be a named driver.

also notice how most of your casr are 3 door ' hot hatches' and you said you aitn a boy racer ... well who drives aroudn with foglamps on .

that is one of my BIGGEST hates .. at night / wet roads FOG LAMPS!! I SEE NO FOG!! I JUST SEE YOUR GLARE!!

"1.4 16V SRi 3d 0-60 10.5 s top speed 111 mph 88 bhp "

my corsa would do 120, i cannot prove it anymore, as i obviously dont any longer own it, but it would do it if pushed

and the GT-Tdi only just did about 125, he only managed to pull away...

as i said, until i got to 120, where he had a bit more

but 70 - 120 i had the advantage

0 - 70 we were evenly matched

120+ he had the advantage

3 doors do tend to look better

im not a boy racer

i only used foglights when it was actually foggy, or for show, i.e. taking pics, like shown

i dont know

my astra would do 120 too, but it took its time getting there, im sure thats not booked for the same speed either

and i bet my seat doesnt say it would do 115, but it will...

they're often wrong, every car is individual.
