they are great M8, the misses has one. If you get it with the keyboard attachmeant as well its just like having a laptop, plus you get double the battery life when it is connected to the keyboard. Without the keyboard though its still a realy nice bit of kit. You can sink it to your pc and control your pc with it, Can even play BF3 via it lol.

Yea it does look really nice, is your misses one Android 3.0? There is a 4.0 version available to buy but it cost a little more and not sure if its worth the extra really.

get the 3.0 as there is always a way of getting 4.0 on it, someone will always fined a way lol

would the 3g version lag as a remote desktop for my 3930k gaming rig, always wanted to use my full workstation power on the move with a interface device.... get the keyboard, play starcraft on max on the train.... is that even doable?

I can play starcraft on it via my local connection. suppose it depends on how good the 3g is, never tried it if im honest

I'd say the quad core selling point is a bit of a sham. The cores are so incredibly slow that a faster dual core tablet would probably work faster. As for the keyboard dock that too confuses me - why not just buy a cheap laptop that would be faster? The whole point of buying the slower hardware is for it to generate less heat and fit in a tablet form factor. The screen is not brilliant either.

Look in to a Scroll Extreme or something, it's less than half that price and the only sacrifice is it's a single core 1.2Ghz with dual core graphics (and screen is a minisule amount smaller but still IPS), for about £180.

Its a 5 core Nvidia CPU/GPU. 1 core runs background things ect. The point of a tablet is its just a screen, a laptop is heavy and has a keyboard attached, The Transformer is just 8mm thick and 586grams. Its the Fastest Android Tablet out atm, And its actually on Par with the Ipad3 from video's im seeing, and at £100 less with a Docking Keyboard, its gotta be worth it.

Tablet alone > worth it

Tablet + dock > get a laptop for so much cheaper

So your saying if it didnt have a dock it would be worth it? you make no sence and dont seem to understand the point of said tablet

You yourself said 'The point of a tablet is it's just a screen', so while comparing to tablets, as a tablet the TF201 is top of the pack but comparing to laptops - that is, a screen with a keyboard - it barely keeps pace with a decent dual core, and said decent dual core would be cheaper than the TF201.

TF201 as a laptop is like buying a bungalow then fitting a 3 bedroom conservatory to it - just buy a house and be done with it. Buying a bungalow alone, however, would make sense if you were after a small house for whatever reason, but adding a huge extension to it and paying a premium for no benefit whatsoever is illogical.

I hope you can understand that.

I really don't see your reasoning either. The Asus is a great, and really fast tablet. And would be great because he wants an ANDROID tablet. But because this one comes with an option to double its battery life, and make life easier with a keyboard, he would be better off buying a windows laptop, that will run slower than an android device?

Your trying to say i should Buy a Laptop just because the Tablet comes with an additional "removable" keyboard. The keyboard is a Bonus to me really.

If i wanted a laptop, id go buy a laptop, But then i wouldnt because my Desktop is a rather high spec.

This proves just how capable it is, The game looks great, and for a quad core 1.3ghz its awesome. And where or when did i say it barely keeps pace with a decent dual core? This thing is a Contender for the Ipad3, Its the FASTEST android out, so i dont see why your saying a cheaper dual core would be better.

Barf, just because it had more cores doesn't mean it's faster

Android is Linux, just run Linux on a £350 laptop and underclock it to Tablet speed to make the battery last longer.

I have an E-350 here with two cores, but I bet you it's still beaten by a single core Pentium 4 in a good few applications. Processors aren't as simple as buying as many magical numbers they hype about.

If you could use a Tegra 3 chip like a 2500k then I don't think Intel would be in business.

If I tryed to sell you a bike with four windows, a boot, two tyres trailing along behind it on string and stuck indicators to it with bubblegum would you not tell me I was wasting my time and should buy a car?

Anyway, if you've got £500 to spend on a brand new "tabtop" as fast as laptops from 3-5 years ago, then I'm pleased for you.

I never said you said that, I said that. The iPad 3 is a tablet, not a laptop, if you're using it without the keyboard then that's the correct form factor to be comparing to.

There's too many variables here for me to bother explaining myself anymore.

*sigh*
