Airsoft Thread

The lincense behind it is very much thought through. Now obviously you don't know what a RIF is and why there is a license to be able to buy one otherwise you would not think that the license behind it is stupid. You have to be a avid Airsofter to buy one for a reason. Do some research and you'll find out why they are licensed. ;)

I think you'll find, I know the law for this completely inside out.. which is why i know the stupid nuances of it. Do your own research, but suffice to say, I started the UK's first Ukara reg'd purpose built indoor airsoft arena, and it's still running today.

Sub, if that the case then I apologise about the assumption. Some people who thinks its stupid has even looked in to why RIF's are Licensed (some people converts to shoots bullets (as you know urself then :D)).

I didn't read the whole thread and didn't realise it was about having to have a separate license even if you have a firearms license. When I saw that post I had my foot in my mouth.

Again sorry, but its one hell of a hobby I enjoy airsofting.

No problem, but that again is slightly wrong. R.I.F's are licensed because they're imitation firearms. You certainly can't convert any of them to fire real ammunition. 60% of them are made from polymer parts, most of the dimensions are out 'just enough' so that real-steel fittings and furniture will not fit. Most of the receivers are all slightly wider to accommodate the gearboxes required for airsoft.

The components these are built with aren't designed to withstand anything like the forces involved when firing a real weapon. Least of all the barrel, and there is certainly no room for a breach.

It's licensed, basically because any tom-dick-n-harry could buy something which to the untrained eye looks real. To avoid 1) a full and complete ban on all of them and 2) the red muzzle-flash/suppressors etc they went with a new type of license and that was the only way to save the sport in the UK since Gun Law is so strict here.

wow I'm flicking through that video and this is what we call "all the gear and no idea" kinda guys, I have no sound but just from the door entry images their technique is made to look 'good' but is in-fact terrible...

I could pick 2 players I know that would literally tag all of them as they entered the doorways.

I'm not sure (as I have no sound) if this is US or UK airsoft, but it looks US (except their flash-hiders are not orange).

I'll have to watch it properly but this is rather funny as it's all for show, actual game-technique looks nothing like this video.

They are US, I thought there entries looked quiet good, have you seen it when they do it in the training CQB area? Looks good to me but maybe it does just look good and not effective but it does look like they have every angle covered in that part of the video.

They all take it seriously and go on runs, assault courses and stuff, pretty cool but aint nobody got time for that! :p

If that's the speed they do a real entry at in a game they don't stand a chance. It's all for looks for the video tbh.

I get why, it's for a video but it would make any serious or even semi-casual player laugh :)

Point gun at doorway, hose with fire until they're all in the respawn, end of discussion. Also I'd be hurling grenades at them like a mofo haha.

Hahaha, they tend to call the other players faggots quiet a lot, I'm not sure some of them would be to happy about that. It probably is all for the video, doesn't seem they get hit much themselves and they are no real-life SEAL's.

Just thought I would chuck an update in here for those interested, seems the green party is looking to completely ban replica guns unless you are using it for a movie prop. :S

Not trying to start a politcal debate, but it is the Green Party. They are pretty left wing in the modern liberal way of limiting freedom to protect everyone.

I mean, surely there are other more important gun related issues right?

Shaun do you play regularly now? I know SuB does/used to but didn't know you did?

Having a birthday shoot out near me in bucks this Saturday. Have rented the site out but 45 quid per person. All forum regulars welcome and a rental gun will be included in the price :D

In fact I was playing an event this saturday and won a new Glock. Got 2 now so it's dual wield time lol
