AGP Graphics Card...

if your 6200 uses the same chip as the one i used to have then there are no extra pipelines or vertex shaders available. i had the same problem, if i applied the tiniest overclock with coolbits the pc would freeze. the solution, bios flashing. i posted a little guide a few weeks ago, ill hunt it down when i get home. it solved my problem and let me OC it about 60% with a little extra air cooling

thanks champ, and what exactly does it do, and i have encountred a problem while i was trying to overclok my comp freezed and i cant get into my account (xp) its to laggy i can overclock it back down becasue of the lag, but then i went on the family account my brother uses and it not overcloked and its not laggy at all all works fine what the hell is goin on and how do i fix itt?

cheers

I think if you hold <ctrl> at logon this should reset the card to defaults.

I would say get a new card THEN start overclocking: a 6600GT would be far more worth overclocking than a 6200 ;)

oh ok, what do you mean bu logon do you mean when you have to click on your account and type ur password to get into your account??

thank-youu

Although i do agree with that, however i think you would get more of an overclock from the 6200. (thats based on what llwyd managed & I am NOT saying the overclocked 6200 is better)

From what I've read the 6600GT runs very hot as it is. So get a 6600GT, then an Arctic Cooler/Zalman VF700-Cu for it if you want to overclock.

oh ok, i should be getting my 6600gt xfx nxt tuesday im orderiing it hoppefully but i still have the choice to get the xpertrvision whats the diff between the two? any majors oneS?

Xpertvision is one of the cheaper manufacturers of graphics cards out there. But their build quality is equal to that of some of the larger companies. Xpertvision use metal film capacitors (Japanese Rubycons, or Sanyos :yumyum: ) on their pcb's which have better properties than the electrolytic versions commonly used. As far as onboard RAM goes, this is a little bit of a lottery...some of the Xpertvision cards use Infineon 2.0ns RAM and some use the Samsung 2.0ns RAM. Further you only get one game in the Xpertvision bundle, but the XFX bundle consists of dated games anyway. I'd go the Xpertvision myself :)

ahhhh, but i heard when you get the xfx is slightly overcloked over the xpertvision, and can i run major games on high with the xpertvision...(i no iv asked this questions many times but i like to get other peoples opinions to weighout my options) sorry

thanks champ!

The overclocked GPU's are overclocked by the card manufacturer, for example BFG, ASUS and XFX etc offer extreme and overclocked versions of the same card. The benefit of buying a factory overclocked card is that it is warranted against faulty components at that speed, they are tested to make sure they deliver on what they are advertised to be. By buying a stock card (stock GPU clock and RAM speed) of the same series, you run the risk of getting a card that won't overclock to the same speed as an already oc'd version and you don't have the warranty safety net...if things should go pear shaped (but you'd have to be unlucky). The best example of this would be the Nvidia 6800's. Nvidia brought out the vanilla 6800, 6800GT and the 6800 Ultra, the 6800GT could be overclocked easily to 6800 Ultra speed for a couple of hundred dollars in savings.

You speak about buying a graphics card on a budget, unfortunately, performance and budget do not tread the same path (although there are exceptions to the rule), if you wanna run the latest games on high or max settings...then don't buy a 6600GT, go for the next generation of card the 7*** series. Further, if you wanted to upgrade to Vista at the beginning of 2007, Microsoft has stated that the 7*** series of cards are needed as a bare minimum to run the OS with all the bells and whistles. I hope this has helped you, at least you can now make an informed decision. Basically, if you don't want the hassle of overclocking the card, then buy the oc'd version instead. If you wanna save a little cash for something else then buy the non oc'd version. :)

p.s Look at the warranty policies of the manufacturers too, in order to help make your decision.

ahhhhhhhhh you just opend up a new hole for me ahahha now i dont no what to buy ahahhahhah!! hmm i dont want to spend over $300 thats way over the budget, but can i at least get the xfx non o'c'd edition or the expertvision 6600gt's and run it at high not highest 800x600, or again im back to square one save up more money for the 7*** series as you stated

I'm not going to either. I'm happy with Linux and XP. I didn't mean to put you off your card choice, they really are a great little card. If you wanna play CS:S and the like this card is perfect. If you wanna play F.E.A.R and games of that calibre on high/ max settings, then it's not for you. See, for an extra $150 - 200 you can get an Nvidia 7800 GS AGP, ultimately it's up to you and what you can afford

well i spoke to my brother and he said he will put in an extra $300 so now i have $600 to spend of a video card whats a good video card to buy with around that money actually what the best one i can get in australia in the 7*** series cheers!

I think raw power wise it is (20 pixel pipes on the 7800, 12 on the 7600). TBH i havn't really looked at the GS much. My wonderful mobo has both slots i went stright to PCI-E from a FX5700LE. But i did look at getting the 7600 and its close but not as good as the 7800GT. and the GS is only a tiny iota (is that how you spell it?) worse than the GT. So i recomend the 7800GS.

Thats my opinion based on what i read, anyone feel free to burn it.
