AGP Graphics Card...

OK, for my machine, I'm not ready to upgrade motherboard and processor (yet), though when I do I'll be getting a new graphics card to go with it.

What do you think would be the best AGP graphics card for me to get, considering I can only spend around £80-100 max? I was looking at the 6600GT (top of my price range) though will take suggestions.

Thanks in advance ;)

Thanks... I also like that card because the benchmark tests on the Sims 2 (the game I play most often) show it performs identically as the 6800, which costs more :p

I prefer NVidia, only got this ATI one because it's slightly better than the FX 5200 I had :)

Aya, a 6600GT would be just fine especially for the Sims 2. I have it it's really a good card and I got the shitties brand there is Chaintech

yehh

yeh im think of gettn a 6600gt i got $300 aus dollaz....i was wondering wood i run battle field 2 on top grahpics ?? running 3ghz 1gb of ram currently a 6200 nvidia :( so te any suggestion wood be great cheersss!!

6600GT won't nearly be able to run BF2 at max detail settings, but will definately be playable at low-mid detail settings.

yeh

oh ok...my comp is currenltly running at 60 degrees and i now this is bad....but this problem will be fixed asap but my concern is will my computer get hotter with the 6600gt??? and what will be good to buy with around $300 aus dollaz??? cheers boys

Your CPU temp shouldn't change with a new gfx, in fact it might actually get a little cooler with a better video card as you could be taking some of the rendering strain off of the cpu.

I don't know the current exchange rate to USD so I'm not sure how much that is. But it sounds like you could afford a 6800GT or 6800GS with it, and that would definately be a better choice than the 6600, it's a much more powerful gpu.

Well, as far as I know, their performance are just about the same. However, the GT $50-$75 (USD) more expensive and seems to be slowly being phased out. Looks like a 6800GS will run you about $359 (AUD) (6800GS at Nintek and a 6600GT is about $269 (AUD) (6600GT at Nintek So it's up to you based on those prices. If you can stretch, though, definately go with the 6800GS.

P.S. try to use the edit button instead of double-posting. ;)

Danni looking at your other specs a 6600GT will destroy the sims 2. My girlfriend plays that game (far too much) on maximum settings bar AA at what ever the next res up from 10X7 is and she has a X300 AIW...Then complains when its slowing down, yet refuses to change the settings down...

But the X300 is crap and runs it quite well, so as i said, 6600GT will defile it.
