Hi all,

I am using my first pc build and still a new boy to all this. At the mo I have...

Nvidia GTX 560
intel i7 2600K
PZ68 mother board
16GB RAM DDR3
500 power box
32inc HD screen so high res card would be nice

Don't know to get 680 and better power pack or wait and get 780 and bigger power pack.

The main things I use my pc for is COD, BF3 and 3DS max animation and HD model renders. Would any of the cards I have in mind cover me in all areas needed.

Sorry for the newbe stuff but thanks for the help and please be kind about my baby rig :)

First off , Hi and welcome to OC3D.
I guess it depends on how much money you want to spend, most 680's cost between $450 and $600 and pretty much all the 780's are around $650 .
It also depends on what brand of psu you have now , my 680 requires at least a 650 watt psu. Either way you need a good quality psu , I recommend a Corsair or Seasonic. Others here can recommend more brands and give you a better idea of a good wattage psu. I'm still new at building myself.

Hi thanks for the reply. I was looking at £600-£700 for new GPU and PSU I also need to look into what PSU have the right connections for each card. Looking at too many sites, getting very lost

Thanks again

When you say a 32" HD screen, I think you mean 1080p? It is HD, but it's not computer game high resolution ;), that's the norm.

At 1080p the 680 will suffice, but the 780 will mean a lot more eye candy and much smoother play. £700 will get you both a decent psu and a 780 - this would be my recommendation. You'll enjoy your games more.

Thanks for the info Mysterae.
What is your thought on 3DS max, i model at the moment but try to do animation but the simulation and render time at the mo is holding me back. Would the two cards be the same or as in gaming would the 780 be better. Just want to make sure i don't get a card that is only good for one thing. :)

Sorry, you'll have to wait until someone that uses that chimes in. The nearest I get to 3DS is Google Sketchup!
