A basic construction guide?

Dude, good find on the first video.

A nice basic step by step tutorial. Makes my first build look like a mission, having said that I did eat a lot of doughnuts and a few tins of beer (I drank them).

Something like a OC exclusive would be a great addition.

bah humbug!

I agree with duke (that most people know how to build a pc)

But it could be a ok idea. There are loads of ways to build a pc and also differences between cases & installation procedure (ie - drives first or mobo first - often depends on the case & if it has a removable mobo tray).

Will be interesting to see how it goes, altho as I'm a bit oldskool (I'm sure XMS/Jim will agree) I think articles showing people how to build computers can have its downsides :( mainly in that the general public begin building pc's and online retailers begin to get more and more things RMA'd for silly errors :(

bah humbug, it's not like the old days

Looking at the youtube video, I already can see some possible problems with the genral public :( (ie- put fingers in a socket to 'discharge yourself   )

Aswell as a huge lapse in technique & general respect for components :(

Also no offence to the people who made it but the music makes it seem cheesy and boring, what's wrong with talking your way thru a howto/guide? (maybe music to begin/intro)

Music can be good, but you can use voice as well, especially if you have a reassuring voice. However, a good guide, does have to be long. No question. If you go fast, people get confused. You have to cover EVERYTHING. for instance, the good guide i exibited says, "discharge yourself". Before i learnt about PCs, i would have said, "what the hell? why is he putting his finger in a plug????" You need to be nice and specific.

Here's the text version:

1. Buy a gigabyte board.

2. Plug everything in to the corresponding colour-coded ports.

3. Press power button

;)

I think that's about it for a basic guide these days.

So much different in comparison to the days when you had to work out the multi and FSB to set the cpu speed using jumpers and also setting the CPU VCore with jumpers etc etc...

Won't be long before they have monkeys building pc's :o :D
