7168 errors!!! 2 sticks, 0 errors, switch them around 7168 errors!!! eh?!

Ok I have been trying to burn in my memory, anyways I got 223fsb down to 6 errors or so a loop with 3.3v 2-2-2-5 which is good as it was much higher. Anyways I noticed the errors were coming from the same part of them memory each time (666.6 mb) so just to make sure, I swapped the memory around and suddenly - 7168 errors! So I swapped back just to make sure and once again, just 6.

Then to rule out the OC I put it back to stock volts + clocks (200fsb). No errors, but swap the sticks, 900 errors!

I have been using the yellow slots as there the ones for high volts I remembered reading on dfi street.. then after searching I read there is actually no difference so I tried orange slots, at stock no errors, swap the sticks, around 850 errors!

Can I just ask... wtf?!

Bah!

So is it the cpu (weak mem controller?), memory (?) or the dfi?

Very strange i was allways under the impression to use the orange slots for BH5 and other volt hungry ram

Well Angry games (mod) posted about there being no diff, but every board is different, and some slightly better in one, others in the other..

Anyways im'd pee'd off! how the ... 7000 errors :(

It just doesnt make sense why it would work one way and not the other!

Power down and totally restart after a 10min cool down period.

Errors can sometimes occur when the 4v jumper is used and the mosfets get too hot - too much heat causes interference with the signal and errors occur.

I always actively cool the mosfets with an 80mm fan blowing directly onto them.

If all else fails, put them a sandwich bag and drop em in the freezer for 24hrs, defrost in airing cupboard for 1hr and re-fit and try again ;)

Mav, i've got a 120mm fan on that mosfet and covering mems too (still the mosfet hot tho!)

Single memory testing:

3.3v 2-2-2-5

Stick 1) Roughly 245 2-2-2-5 before any errors on memtest (just a quick check with first loop being fine, any higher I get errors on first loop)

Stick 2) Roughly 225 2-2-2-5 is max before memtest errors. However this is the new stick which has only had a little burn in (or atleast I hope its the newer stick which hasnt been!)

So it appears one of my sticks needs a long burn in... but then again - if it errors on stock settings! Maybe I need another rma.. lol

I would try to burn the new stick in looks like its causing you all the problems. If it was the board the results would be the same no matter what ram you used. What test does it fail on 5 i pressume.Try just runing the test it fails on not the whole series of tests speeds up the burning in process. And when your happy its stable let it run the whole progam a few times to make sure!

For sure certainly looks like one stick is better, try whacking 3.6v in em - UTT loves the voltage :D

My BH5 was good for 260mhz at 3.6v before I started to burn in. Out of interest which tests are you failing on?

If you get errors on tests 1-4 then it's likely to be CPU/mobo related, 5,6,7,8 are all direct memory tests.

I was very happy with my 623 BIOS, not sure what they are offering now for the Ultra D but unless you are using a FX60 I'd stick with (or try) that one.

using the new 3/30 (actually dated 3/29 but took em ages to release :P)

Im looping test number 5 guys, I thought that was what everyone used... Seems to be the standard test using #5...

Hmm will try 3.6 later mav, from what I read its better to stick with just 3.3 for the inital burn in... Looks like i'll have to burn the crud stick individually so I can get it to decent speeds without errors...

Also thought i'd add:

Now put the strong stick in the farthest orange (the weak slot) and the weak stick in the orange closest to the CPU (strong slot) This should give you the best results in your overclocking

Done this, your right... hmm... oddly enough after my tested, put back to stock volts, clocks, fsb and on the first loop with the 2 in their best setup I got 2 errors, then no more.... Oh and tad annoying that I have to run my sticks AT STOCK a certain way around :( Also seems incredibly limiting on clocks.. Hope they will burn in better....

O

Edit: Flashed to 4/06 - just a modded version of 3/29 but meant to be a tad better...
