Hey!

I just wanted to let everyone know (after me finding the problem)! That if you are trying to install:

  • 4GB (2x2GB)
  • 800MHz
  • Non-ECC
  • Unbuffered

Memory into your P5N-E SLI Asus motherboard (and it is compatible), you MUST install it into the BLACK slots rather than the yellow (primary ones).

I don't know why.

Also, if you want even more ram (say 6GB) then although you would normally put the highest significance ram in the main slots, put it in the black ones - it works.

Well... good luck to everyone I hope this solves your problem if you have it!

glad to know its solved, also its because the black slots are the first channel and the mobo needs ram on the first one always (if using 2 must be on the first and third respectively) like this example: (first) black slot / blue slot /(3rd) black slot / blue slot (also that's not for every mobo since some the first slots to put ram are the second and 4th.

Yes, I was aware that it went 1-3 or 2-4 rather than having the RAM next to each other, but I thought that the yellow ones were the first channel
