This.

Because hardly any one knows it even exists and it's smaller and better than pretty much every other AV (inc Avast). I used to use Avast but now there's no point. It constantly nags you about upgrading to the latest version then breaks when you do.

It's rare that M$ get something right but MSE is excellent.

Weird. It's been the most stable, least naggy thing I've probably ever used. In fact it's so un-naggy that being hidden in my systray I totally forget I'm running it.

Really? (not a cocky really.. More of disbelief).

When Avast first came around I fell in love with it. Most importantly because it pulled my install from a complete car wreck (AV2009 or whatever). Before I had installed Avast in safe mode and performed the boot time scan it was at the point where Windows would bsod immediately.

But Avast got rid of it all like it hadn't even been there.. Very very impressive. Also loved the update sound (virus data base has been updated), though not at 3am when I was trying to sleep :D

But then it started popping up a green box in the bottom corner going on about me updating to the newest version. In the end (because it was overlaying in games and I was losing save games) I let it upgrade and then it refused to work. I also didn't like the new voice, GUI and so on.

I put the older one back on which worked great but then it constantly nagged on about putting on the new one :(

Freeware:

7Zip, CCleaner, DVD shrink, Handbrake, AVG, Intelburntest (waaay better than prime), VLC, core temp, CPU-Z, GPU-z, Rivatuner and skype (although I actually have money on that to call america)

Best software I have ever used:

Acronis true image home...saved my install of windows so many times.

Yeah I use Acronis. So much better than the crud built into Windows and easier to use than Ghost (which has dissapeared up its own bum over the past few years).

Well Steam (Y), CPU-Z, GPU-Z, IntelBurnTest, CCleaner, Rainlendar, Notepad++, winRar (because you dont need to pay to get the full version! [basically :P]) Display Fusion, Launchy, VLC and Unlocker XD

Launchy is an awesome program that runs in the background and is a shortcut key for almost anything. Unlocker helps me delete those files that just wont go away, Display Fusion lets me set one wallpaper for my two screens, Rainlendar is an awesome little calendar, Notepad++ open anything and is great for simple coding. Not much else I use really!
