My newest build log, and hopefully with some good modding. I haven't planned what to mod just yet, but I'm sure I will.

Specs:

P67 Sabertooth - received

Intel i5 2500k (had to send back because I got 2500 instead -doublelol-), so awaiting this for another week. - With D14 (yet to order)

8GB HyperX 1600MHz - in post

1TB Samsung F3 - received

SSD - will order soon

560 Ti - not ordered yet. I have a 4870 for the mean time

Coolermaster 700w - payment sent to nepas, should be in post now.

Chieftec original server case - mod worthy? - waiting for funds for a new case (undecided, 90% sure it's an obsidian)

As you can see it's not complete yet, but I hope to have a running machine before 5th October.

Will be OC'd until it's unstable ofc.

I'll post some pics soon.

POST WILL CHANGE AS HARDWARE IS UPDATED.

BEWARE, THE CHIEFTEC IS UGLY AND HUGE, I'D SAY AROUND 6ft (I joke ofc lol, but it is pretty big)

Lookin forward to this. Hopefully you don't run into any problems, good luck

+1 because you actually bothered to add photos when starting a project log.

So we've seen its bum and insides, but what does the face of this tall and skinny case look like?

Looking forward to this build log! Also looking forward to what case you may replace this massive beast with.

RAM came this morning, I really need to change my bank address as it is still at my parents (lol). I'll get some pics of the front as requested soon enough. Still waiting on the PSU from nepas.

Sorry, you may want to save and rotate, since I only realised when I previewed the post. I would reupload, but I'm using a 0.010mb connection >.<, these took about 10 minutes to upload.

I thought your DL was 0.001 MB/s? And i tbh wouldn't have bothered uploading pics if it took 10 min

lol, I was over doing my net connection lol. 0.001 not 0.010

. I know, but a log is no log without pics

. Got an old 1 of the back of the mobo tray, there's so much room and potential in this case. Would be perfect for someone wanting to watercool, would be enough room for a huge setup!

I'm actually starting to like this case. Minus my non-pro camera skills (loliseefinger), I think the case has some potential.

I tried removing the front of the case a year or so back, which was a no go as it wasn't shifting for anything. After a lot of force and some very small pliers, I got it off, eww dust/dirt

. Looking at it from this angle really shows how big it is, the mobo tray ends before hole where the opening handle was.

Going to remove the HDD cage holders or at least 1.

Cable management should be no problem, the holes are already there for me, will cut a hole in the top of the case for 2-3x120mm fans.

Remember this is only a temp case lol, it's fugly in soo many ways.

I've just ordered the right CPU (forthewin), so now it's just waiting for PSU to arrive and for me to order a new cooler, which is still undecided it's either Silver Arrow or D14.

Components paid for so far

Sabertooth P67 - arrived

i5 2500K - ordered

8GB Kingston HyperX 1600 1.65v - arrived

ATI 4870 - only temporary - arrived

1TB Samsung F3 - arrived

Coolermaster 700w PSU - awaiting response from nepas

Left to order

heatsink & compound

Graphics card most likely be 570 in the end, or 2x560 Ti.

22" LED HDMI Monitor

2500K arrived this morning, now I've got to order 1x Silver Arrow & wait for nepas to send me the PSU. I will then be booting this machine up in that case.

Okay that case is the size of a small house, but only holds 80mm fans?

Agreed, it has so much potential and a good rework of the front, back & top is defo needed. I lack the skills plus I do not have the tools for such a job, soo much room in the case it's unreal, even with all components inside there is enough room for another setup in the top half.
