Just wondering for those of us who don't bench all the time if anyone has any different themes installed on their pc I have one called light tube blue I will post a link when I get home as now I am at work and it wont let me at the linkDamn you blue coat damn you to helll

I dont actually use themes anymore, but I used to love the wildlife theme that came with the XP Plus pack, and a few others like that. More than themes I like scenic wallpaper.

Been burnt a few times with infected them files and of course every bit of performance helps so it's the 1st thing I switch off.

LOL, dont u guys have seperate HDD's or prfiles for benching..?

Anyway i have some nice themes, i will post them up later when i get home.

I thought if you set everything to performance in the effects panel etc then use the patcher and apply a theme it use a miniscule amount of resources??? Or am i wrong?

I get too worried about performance, so just have everything in the old classic style

Same ^^ like to keep it simple, it's of course not due to the fact I can never get themes to work.. :$

For everyday themes are ok, but for benching..EVERYTHING gets tuned off so I dont see a performance hit from it. Used to run windowblinds, but had a small gaming when running it. probably not any more seeing as I was playing F.E.A.R. last night with F@H AND Windows Media player running in the background with no stutter. Clock speed? 1.8GHz :)

What patcher would this be..?

The patch that lets you use all the themes. It only installs a .dll file, and is the same as paying for windows blinds or something.

It's called UXTHEME MULTI-PATCHER

Once installed you can use any visual style from deviant art etc and uses 0 resources as far as i can see.

yeh mpabit has go it, the uxtheme.dll uses no real overhead unlike skin packages such as windowblinds etc which run on top of windows own themer thus using loads of resources... i used to use that for a while but now ill just get a nice clean theme off deviantart...

you can also use Nlite to make a slipstreamed windows cd which includes the uxtheme.dll... its the only file to need to make the themes works :)

i dont use themes, last time i got a theme off of that theme xp website it installed spyware on my pc and slowed it right down, had to re-format.

Ever since i've been using the standard blue xp theme.... boring i know but i cba to format if i do get spyware installed again.

I've been using the same theme on my rigs for about 3 years, it's called Pitch Black and I downloaded it from ThemeXP aaaages ago (before they had sponsored (read "spywared") themes)

I use StyleXP to change the theme and logon screens, then once applied kill the StyleXP processes. Job done!

I'll post some pics when I get home
