Xbox 360 HD

Didn’t quite know where to put this thread but I guess here will do :P My friend just got a HD TV for Xmas and he wants to hook his Xbox 360 up in HD but his Xbox doesn’t have the HDMI socket that the new ones have just the standard one and his TV only accepts HDMI and VGA and HDMI is much better than VGA, So basically he needs a HD Component cable adapter that turns the 6 cables into HDMI, I’ve done a Google search and can’t find anything. Does anyone know if these things exist and were to get one. Or if there’s just a cable that’s HDMI for the Xbox 360. this is the kind of thing I’m looking for I’ve just found it but it doesn’t ship yet. Thanks

from what i hear from people on here, hdmi isnt that much better than vga.

can you not just plug the component cables straight into the tv?

converting to hdmi is pretty pointless imo, cos its converting an analogue signal to a digital signal, so its no better than the original analogue signal, so no quality increase anyway, as the 360 still wouldnt be outputting anything better.

just stick with component or get a vga cable for the xbox

I said the TV only supports HDMI and VGA so probs just tell him to get a VGA cable

You cant convert the analogue to digital with out a £200+ converter, even then, theres hardly any increase in eye candy.

VGA cable is great i use it for mine, quality picture.

Hope that helps.

What`s the output res of a 360 ?

How bizarre. I`d not say that. S`pose it depends on the "that much" and what u plug it into.

Use the VGA cable, looks pretty fantastic :)

Just ordered mine, got myself an optical cable aswell to go straight into the back of my Logitech Amp which is part of my Z-5500 set :p

Cool :) Optical sound is a must on the 360 imo

@Rast: HDMI doesn't look that much better, even on a 40" Samsung HDTV @ 1080p

360 outputs at a number of resolutions, main one people use is 720p/1080i and 1080p

VGA looks seriously good though

I dont understand why they dont output in DVI so you can hook up to LCDs.

Luckily my Dell 2007WFP has VGA in and DVI in so I have my pc on DVI and will hook my 360 upto VGA in.
