So I've been given a nice amount of amazon vouchers for Christmas and wondered if it was worth upgrading from my 5800x 3d to either a 13700k or 7700x I'm running an rtx 3090 gpu

Both will give better performance than the 5800X3D in gaming but we're talking in the area of 5% based on the videos I've seen, Really not worth it IMO.

Your money would be better spent either getting more storage, Better cooler, Better/more fans etc...

13700k is a different CPU entirely. Much more cores and overall a step up imo. Gaming? No, but if you're into anything that uses cores the 13700 is next level.

Running a 360 aio 9 noctua fans and 2tb nvme so they are all covered, I genuinely don't know what to buy with my newly acquired vouchers.

I game at 1440p is the 5800x 3d bottlenecking my 3090 in any way?

As Alien said I doubt it but if you want peace of mind then load up MSI Afterburner and RTSS that comes with it, In Afterburner in the monitoring section have GPU usage enabled, You could use GeForce Experiences performance OSD but I find Afterburner more accurate.

Load any of your games up and if you are consistently seeing under 90% GPU usage in any of your games, Remember to have FPS uncapped, Then yes you are CPU limited.
