today I installed Windows 8 on my computer on a SEPERATE HDD, a 1tb seagate. Now I want to go to my windows 7 which is on my 500gb seagate BUT I CANT!! For some reason chaning the boot order in my BIOS does nothing AND the 1tb seagate shows up with the same serial number as my 500gb. I was VERY carefull on which drive I installed windows 8 on (I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR YEARS) I double and tripple checked that I chose the 1tb drive with 1tb of free space. But now booting from my 1tb hitatchi strts up windows 8 AS WELL as starting up from my 500gb when it was ONLY installed on my ONE 1tb seagate! WtF happened!?

Found the problem. Windows 8 deleted my System 32 off my 500gb. But as for all three drives some how booting up to windows 8? I cannot explain.

if its set to boot other device in bios is may appear its booting to all 3 but in reality just where ya installed it. But yeah i agree should of disco'd the other drives while ya test drove win8

im just reinstalling windows 7 again. Not a big deal with the Windows.old folder, I just have to spend extra time redownloading all the drivers again. I'll just wait for WIN8 to be officially realeased. I get Ultimate (or whatever they will call it) it for free anyway.

this issue was mention in the 'building windows' blog as a know issue/thing that happens, when installing win 8 have the other drive(s) unplugged then it'll be fine.

yeppers, i always disco drives on new OS installs. just for that reason of

ghost app removing, moving or deleting data...
