name='Jim' said:Agreed on the HX750/HX850. Both of those units offer great all round performance. They may not be the best in EVERY area, but cumulatively they are without doubt the best I've tested thus far.
However, Seasonic's I'm not too fond of. Yes the X-*50 range also used by PCP&C offer excellent voltage stability, but whenever I test a unit based on that platform I pick up occasional really high ripple spikes that I believe may not have been noticed by other reviewers. Additionally the XFX 850w PSU also based on that platform died twice in my max load tests indicating that OPP isn't doing its job well enough.
I believe he works for Ultra now doesn't he and the role of PSU testing has been taken over by someone else (who certainly does seem to know their stuff though)>
PCP&C don't use the X-*50 range, as far as I know. They've not produced a new unit for a while. The Silencer 750W from PCP&C is built by SeaSonic, but it doesn't use the new X-*50 platform. JG done a review on the 650W recently, it's pretty much the best performer, currently. I'd link to the review, but I got kinda told off for that...
The only OEMs that PCP&C have used (As far as I know) are SeaSonic (For the Silencer range) and Win-Tact (For the Turbo-Cool series).
Oh, and yes, the M12D platform suffers from terrible ripple spikes, as you found in your review.
