Project "I Got Wood"

So the two usb 3.0 sitting on the underside of the lid, this is what it looks like with the front panel on and the lid down :)

so moving on with the build, i wasnt happy with how the bottom looked so empty, i dont like that the PSU is on show with all of the horrid cables. so i have come up with a base plate to go over the top. it lies flush with the back of the case and has room for cables and the DVI cable which is plugged into my GPU which it also lies pretty flush with. so it will split up my front panel, which i think will look pretty good with a white break in between it. to easily gain acsess to the lower part of the case this base plate wont be screwed down but lying on top of braces instead which will be attached to the walls underneath.
underneath the base plate ill have 4 fans cooling down the PSU and my Hard drives/SSD. two will be pulling cool air in and two will be pushing hot air out. all on the front panel.
i really like how this build is coming along and i am really lookng forward to finishing it.

New base board/plate whatever you want to call it, sanded, painted and cut to fit around the base of my GPU and MoBo cables very nicely. The gap underneath is just tge right size to house 4 120mm case fans. The front panel will be cut at 120mm from the bottom to make a front panel for the bottom part and it wont be glued down, just incase i need to get into the psu.

so this is it, this is pretty much what the end result will come to, there is a few bits of paint that need touching up but other than that the building work is pretty much done! :D i have a few bits coming in the post soon and once i have them ill be able to boot it up and hopefully it will actually post.

the base of the case is 120mm high, as i said in previous posts ill be getting 4 120mm ans, but youll only be able to see half of them. the idea is that thyre going to be glowing anyway so it will give off a pretty cool effect through the panel. aswell as that the LEDs behind the MOBO will be shining through the top half, so it will look pretty good i hope.

New stuff! Yay!

So there is x2 140mm fans going in the side panel. Got my new arctic thermal paste and behind that a PCIe ribbon to attach to my GPU

It boots!

Looks great, not expected to see it work so well. One thing i dont like is the orange LEDs on the motherboard, i think i may tey and cover them with something so the red on.the left shines out more. Front fans look amazing coming through the black. Cant wait to get my 120mm ones for under the panel.

I like what you have done kudos for even attempting this and considering its hand crafted with wood I think you did a rather nice looking job.

Thanks very much, its very rewarding, especially when you buy the materials, its just two pieces of wood. Alot of time and effort has gone into it. Although its not 100% done. I tthink as it stands now it looks great. I just need a name :p

So ive had a couple of setbacks with the componemts, something isnt working right, the whole systems been taken out and i await a new motherboard to see if that can resolve the problems im having:mellow: . Im staying optimistic for this, ive come this far with the build im determined to make it work.

So my updates are starting to slow down due to the build being practicly done, although i have just added my 4 fans under my base panel shown below

Im currently waiting for a reply from asus to replace my broken motherboard and once that has arrived i will update again :) up to now i love how my build come from an idea in my head to this. Its also big enough for when i come to do some bigger upgrades in the near future i.e watercooling and some rads.

So its been a couple of weeks since my last post, but im happy to say that asus has given me a new board. Ive been using an atx board for the time being from gigabyte, uts alright but i was missing my useage of front usb 3.0. My baby will now be whole again :)

SHE LIVES! :D....i would have loved to have known what they did to the board or what was wrong with it, but they do not provide a summery sheet with the repair/replacement. over the next few weeks/ months i am going to slowly upgrade bits and bobs throughout my case. and i will update as and when. up to now this project has been very hands on, and very fun and i appreciate all the help OC3D forums folk has given in troubleshooting problems and also the positive feedback. <3
