whats so bad about me using a 120mm rad

You can use one but people generally don't like them because a 240mm would do much better and would allow you to use quiet fans on them while maintaining decent temperatures. They also don't look very nice in my opinion, square radiators just look odd.

What do you mean? A 120mm aio like a corsair h80 is pretty good but if you're using a 240mm rad and adding a 120mm onto it then you're just wasting money really. Plus it looks less tidy.

Giving a minor example, locally an H110 (280mm rad) cost me 115 euro, a custom loop with a D5, a raystorm and a 240mm rad would cost about 350ish....

If you were going to use just a single 120mm or 140mm rad, don't consider a custom loop, get an all in one cooler. Custom loops come into their own when you need much more rad space, and you want to cool more than just your CPU; but that comes at a price.

Basically it doesnt make sense financially. If you want to use 120mm then use an AIO. Really isnt cost effective to make a customer 120mm loop.

maybe but the link above is the h75

this link has a 47mm thick rad with 11fpi

what im asking is would the kit do the same job as the h75?

+1 If it is just your CPU go with the H75 and save yourself some money.

If I was going full water kit I'd be thinking 240/360mm rad and blocks on everything, I don't see the point in doing a full custom loop just for the CPU with a 120mm rad.

I'd hazard a guess at them being similar performance, the custom kit has a slightly thicker radiator, but low fin density. The H75 has almost double the fin density I think but I can't find an actual figure.

Basically the performance ought to be very similar, and the kit is more than double the price of the AIO, and the kit won't have much upgradability because the pump isn't very powerful.

If you don't currently have the funds to be shelling out for a decent custom loop then either save up until you do, or if not, get the AIO. Custom watercooling isn't cheap, and it's more of a luxury than a necessity.

im not planning on doing or buying jus i saw on linus tech tip forum that say you must have a min of 240mm rad to cool a cpu loop but 120mm monsta rad has 8 fpi so that should be as good as a 240 right?

Surface area is important.

Like people have said, an AIO is a much wiser decision for this.

What everyone else said. Also, what no one mentioned yet is that once you get the water bug by doing a custom loop, you WILL want to include the GPU eventually, which means you need 240 at a minimum, and 360+ if you want any sort of acceptable noise levels from fans.

maybe but a cpu surely 240 is a bit of anover kill for 1-2 degress cooler
