What Rads are you using to cool your 4790k CPU's

As per the title, on moderate overclocks. I need a rad, no idea what size, & dont really fancy the corsair H type ones.

So just basically seeing what all you pros are using in your rigs, so i can take your advice & use it on my own rig in the coming months.

I personally use the H100i on mine, I run mine at 4.6GHz on a day to day basis, and when needed load up the 4.9GHz profile I have setup.

The H100i temps are brilliant, I do run it in push - pull config with the standard included fans (SP120-L) on top and a pair of SP120 LED (White) fans on the bottom.

i'm using EK XTX 360mm and EK XTX 240mm both 64mm thick :)
both rads have noctua nf-f12 pwm fans on them (5 in total)

I've got 360x35mm XSPC RS360 and an Alphacool 360 Monsta cooling my 4790k and two GPUs.

Any 240mm rad would do it. It's not a high wattage CPU. I'd recommend something like an Alphacool NexXxos ST30 240mm with some decent fans. Other brands are available from phobya, XSPC etc. Just look for something 240mm with a relatively low fpi to keep things quiet (10-20 fpi) and at least 30mm deep.

Do you want an all in one solution or a custom loop?

Custom loop.

At the moment ive got a 360 monsta, which i was going to use for a gtx 980 ( maybe two if they dont get too hot) & since noise to me isnt much of an issue, fans can blow hard if needed.

However, i aint sure if the CPU needs another 360 or smaller...

... I dont need overkill is what im saying. Hence i was interested in what others have in their rigs that are proven methods of cooling the chip to a reasonable degree

360 and 420 60mm thick Alphacool Nexxos with Noiseblocker fans, one in push, other in pull. Cooling one GTX 770 at stock speed and 4790K @ 4,5Ghz daily. The D5 pump runs at 1,5 setting, so pretty slow. Having very good temps, although perhaps a bit overkill with the rads. Idle temp on CPU is around 25 degrees celsius with room temp at around 18. Around 45-50 when gaming. If you'd add another 240, I think you'd be fine.

Cheers.

ok, so I see 360, 420 & H100's coming up quite a lot, but maybe overkill ( well, to some degree ) & I wont be running it 24/7, I have a job!! which means goodies every month lol!

So out of all your experience, would a 240 be reasonable, in say a push/pull configuration for the CPU & use the 360 monsta for the cards?

Or do I use the 360 into the CPU, out the CPU into 1 or two 980's, then out there into a 240 then back into the res?

I know it might come down to personal preference, but if one loop is more efficient than the other then I would like to know.

however if were talking merely 1-3 degree difference, I think for me personally, id like a tidy loop than a really effiecient cool one.

Looks like you answered your own question there ;)

What they say is a 120 for each block, and one for luck. But I've always put in what the maximum the case can take, all except a rear single. Si if you have room for a 360, and a 240, use them both. Don't bother with a rear, single 120/140, it just adds mess to the overall finished look.

awesome. thanks for all the input. I'll be updating my necro'd thread :rollinglaugh:when my parts arrive this week, & the coming months thereafter.

Just out of interest, ive seen radiator gaskets, has anyone expierince with them? any noticeable changes in temps at all? or is it really just a gimmick?
