(i7 4790k @ 4.0GHz) + (GTX 1060 6GB) = What Rad?

Hi guys, I need some info on a water cooling loop I wanna do.

So, i got the 'Sharkoon QB-ONE' pc case, which supports a dual 120mm or (240mm) at the top of a maximum 5cm(50mm) height(no fans) or 2,5cm(25mm) height(with fans). Also I can add a 8cm(80mm) rad at the back of the case.

GPU: EVGA SC 1060 6GB (ITX)

At first i wasn't planning to go water, but i think i can improve the temps, currently at 70ºC on max (aida64 StressTest / Forza H / The Division).

Idles temps are great at 29-39ºC.

I plan on getting a copper rad, cause i don't want to worry about corrosion.

BUT, if i add both the cpu and gpu on the same loop, will temps drop ? which rad tickness should i get ?

I already got a be quiet 120 pwm fan that i'll probably use. If not maybe i'll get 2 Vardars.

I still have to buy the rad and the tubing.

There will be a quick disconnect for draining the loop. This will be easilly acessable tru the side panel.

Let me know what you think about what rad i should get to dissipate all the heat.
 
I have that CPU block and I will be honest I wasn't terribly impressed by it. My Phenom 2 X6 still easily hits nearly 60c with it. Looking at that GPU block I would not trust that either, as it looks to be pretty much the same design. Also, I have a 360 Coolstream and 120mm 60mm thick rad. So yeah, block is a bit pants.

I got one of these, but bear in mind I have a GTX 950 so the die is tiny !

But yeah, that did the job. I've never seen/heard of that pump. For one of my rigs I used this.

Ceramic bearing and shaft, very quiet indeed even at full pelt.

Looking at that case though? I doubt I would even try it tbh. It looks like it will drive to insane. As for whether a 240 rad will be enough? Well firstly let me cover the 80mm rad. Don't bother. The 80mm fan will drive you nuts, even at 5v. I also wonder if a 240 would be enough with the 4790k as it's quite a hot CPU. The GPU will dump quite a bit of heat on its own (GPUs do) so yeah, not sure you will really gain that much.
 
A 240mm rad should be more than sufficient, I ran my 4790K on a Fractal Kelvin S24 for nearly a year clocked to 4.5Ghz and she never broke past 45c at full load and idled at 27c. Try to bring the volts down as much as you can with the stock 4.0Ghz ;) you'll see a huge difference.

Ah I see, that's what I get for skimming though a thread. Well in that case, temps will probably be 10 - 15c higher depending on the rad thickness, I was running 2x 240mm rads until recently with the GTX1070 and 4790K, idle temps were 27c and full load of 40c (45c in the recent hot weather) How ever I was running overclocks so expect temps to be slightly lower for an unoverclocked RIG.

OP I'd say if you can squeeze it in go with the 80mm rad in the loop too.

AlienALX, that GPU block doesn't have any fins on the cooper base.

If your cpu block is the same, maybe that could explain your temps. I think yours doesn't have enought friction/contact for the water. IDK, thats why i got mine with fins.

I know i'ts not a big game changer, but i'm still hoping for better temps.

Maybe I'll even build myself a custom top cover made of painted acrilic or metal to add nother rad on the top and get high static pressure fans. IDK.

It doesn't have fins but that doesn't matter. I got my GTX 950 to almost 1600mhz before it crapped out, and it wasn't because of temps.

Also note that the blocks you are looking at are most certainly not copper. They are copper coloured metal, and if you do some digging there are no specs on it. It's crap, basically.

I have the CPU block with fins that you are looking at there and it's rubbish. It makes perfect contact with the CPU, but as I say fins or not it doesn't make a difference. It's just a crap block.
