What made you LOL today?

From 60Hz to 120Hz is a Huuuge difference. Everyone notises that. Everything above that deppends from person to person. I can notice 144Hz, but 165Hz feels the same. Also the higher you go with refresh rate the difference between frames get smaller. It is just a few ms and it is almost impossible to notice.

Prettymuch this, but i could never go back to a 60hz panel after 4 years on a 144hz.

What about above though? I’ve personally never tried anything higher than 144Hz. Is 165Hz or even 240Hz noticeable?...
It's not such a massive leap, but there certainly is a difference - having gone from 165Hz to 240Hz recently. IMO the current sweet spot is 1440p 16:9 or 21:9, at 120Hz or above. But I went with the 1440p 240Hz since I play a lot of FPS games.

It depends on the game but I can "feel" a difference to around 120Hz, Anything above that and for me at least it's diminishing returns.

Yeah, I’m with you all regarding from 60 - 120/144Hz is a big difference, literally night and day for me personally. Although above 144Hz, which I’m currently on and have been for the past years, I couldn’t say though, as never tried higher.
With that said though, I highly doubt I’d notice the difference. Not enough to be the sole reason of potentially going higher refresh rate though.

@Avet, I agree. Recently saw Linus video on the new 360Hz monitor from ASUS, where they clearly laid out the differences in time between the different refresh rates (60, 120/144, 240 and 360Hz). The higher you go, the smaller the differences in times are and hence being less and less noticeable. Due to being refreshed so fast, it’s next to impossible to notice.

Even Linus himself admitted that it was more or less luck that he guessed correctly at which monitor was the 360Hz one, even laughed at it due to being so surprised.

@looz - Which monitor do you have? Haven’t seen a 1440p @ 240Hz?...

The difference between 165 and 240 is soooo small it only helps the twitch gamers really. Those with good response times. Even then its miniscule.

I can see a clear difference between 144 and 165, something that many dont. And before people jump at me. It comes down to how you test it. However, Even I see very little between 165 and 240.

Odyssey G7 I presume. Its quite an outstanding monitor.

The fun begins at 10:51. This just shows that Poor checks that EK do these days. When they cant even send out a working review sample. Check when he takes the CPU block apart :D

Massive engineering failure for their supposed new high end blocks

I've been wishing on water colled build for some time (but life gets in the way) and I have never concidered EK. Watercool and Aquacomputer in a heartbeat, Bitspower and Alphacool maybe, but EK no.

They pay a lot for promotion, but they are not as half as good as many people think.

Pre EVO/Supremacy era, they were actually the top brand along side Watercool. But after their internal breakdown where many staff parted ways, they have gone downhill.
When their CEO and CTO leave due to disagreements in company direction, you know something isnt right. And well look at them now. Quality on par with Corsair.

I'll stick with Bitspower or Watercool in future. This CPU design failure from EK is just awful.

What made me laugh today?

The GTX 3090

Overpriced
Oversized
Overhyped

It would be nice if NVidia could get back to making cards that run cool, fit in peoples cases and are affordable.

I fully agree with you but Nvidia are charging that because they know people will pay it, Really does come down to that.

49" was the one with the scalar problems wasn't it?

I think the 27" one was specifically the one everyone raved about if I remember right

32 and 49 stay way clear of. Even the 32 has awful flickering or rapid brightness deviations that are not resolvable via firmware.

I returned 3 monitors before getting a 27 inch that was issue free. So far im happy. The HDR is impressive and its only HDR600. Horizon zero dawn and division 2 look so smooth and beautiful.

Lolz XD

I have the funds saved to afford it but no, I'd be giving Nvidia a big thumbs up and saying "this price is totally ok" which it's not, As Kaapstad said it's overpriced and if one of the biggest enthusiasts in the community says that then you know something's up.

Hes been saying that for the last 2 generations and still buys them for his hobby :)

In all honesty the 3080 FE has my attention, If AMD cannot come out with something in the same performance bracket around the same price with big Navi then it's team green for me.

For all we know big Navi may only be as fast as a 2080 Ti but cost more than a 3080, Making it an instant failure, We've got to wait for real benchmarks before anyone makes concrete statements.

I can bet you two things.

1. It may be as fast as a 2080Ti.
2. It will never cost what the 3080 does.

TBH I don't care either way. Been fishing for a 2080Ti FE all evening (as I have a block for one) but I will wait until they drop to £550. Saw one earlier, hesitated and it's gone.

Having checked out some games tonight it is rather clear to me that the 2080Ti is more than enough for my needs and will be for a long time to come.
