What does Tom have against OCZ?

from my experience i find ocz products to be second rate, unreliable products.

for ssds they do not produce a single part they use in them so all they are putting together is the memory other manufacturers don't rate high enough for their own products. hence failure rate

as for psus i have had one fail on a clients pc which has put me through so much s*** i will never be using one again! i also had one in my personal pc which has been replaced, partially due to coil whine mostly due to the before mentioned client build.

Old thread I know but thought I'd add my 2 pence worth, OCZ PSUs used to use TRec capacitors up until early 2012 and due to the high volume of failures and RMAs they switched to the more reliable TEAPO Caps the same used in Corsairs GX series, Seasonics, Antecs and some Coolermaster PSUs.
Plus have you ever had to deal with their customer service or tech support? Pretty dismal I can tell you.

I've never used their SSDs so can't comment but the many etailers selling referb units is not really a good sign for me.

But it's got to some way explain why Tom dislikes OCZ.

An OCZ psu wiped out all of toms old system, they are cheaply made power supplies too and it looks like they just cut corners when making products.

I think the biggest problem for these companies is the internet...... no don't laugh hear me out. ;)

When there are issues with suppliers and it makes it onto forums and social media it can go viral, and damage a companies reputation quite easily. I personally have only ever used 1 OCZ product and it's in the boys BF3 rig. Never had an issue... runs cool / quiet and has more than enough juice for his set up.

I have had less than desirable experiences with the likes of Hiper / Corsair / DFi and out of the three the one I have had to return stuff to the most is Corsair. They do redeem themselves by actually sorting stuff out eventually, so it's not all bad, I just think in some cases, hardware specific they shouldn't fail in the first place.

I have a personal problem with OCZ. I've used their ssds and they've all failed on me. I've made three different systems which started off with them as well in my personal rig. They all failed within a month. I've replaced them all with samsung ssds and had no problem. Its a shame that OCZ's stuff is so prone to failure, the price is always so tempting but I'm not in the market for a single use ssd. I've heard relatively good things about their newest ssd not dying after a short space of time but I'll only buy OCZ stuff again if Toshiba purchases them, like it has been rumored.

In terms of TTl hate I agree with the majority of things he hates (OCZ, Thermaltacky) but I can't understand the hate for antec stuff, sure its not exciting but I've never had a problem with any of their stuff and the cases (while again, boring) are pretty well made imo.
