I run an IT support company - HexSys. It's a genuine offer Ionicle, if ever you are in my neck of the woods, fetch your rig and we will have a look - gratis. I hate the thought of you being so put off Vista with the problems you are having mate. I am sure once they are ironed out, you would start to enjoy using it.

As for what repair shops use to test for faults, there are various tools available. We use Microscope a fair bit, but it would be pretty expensive for the home user. Then we have PSU testers, PCI POST diagnostic cards etc etc. 95% of the time though, it comes down to our tech guys having experience of problems, which allows them to diagnose them pretty quickly. Any tech guy will tell you that the most common error with computers is the ID10T user error:D

wow very nice site, were are you based?? My main issue at the moment on my PC the internet keeps Disconnecting! i havnt been able to use it for the last week, it works fine for normal surfing but for P2p or CSS (online gaming) it just cuts out which forces me to go to the router and restart it

This is also the case with my Cousin it occurs on his laptop and he uses vista

At the moment i am using vista on my laptop and i can do everything fine and not once has the interent DC any ideas?

Lol IT guy and you didnt tell him a possible way to correct his network problems?

ionicle......set your network to private in Vista and make sure these are on.

Network discovery

File Sharing

Public Folder Sharing.

Should look like this when your done.

Also if you can make sure your running SP1. I suggest slipstreaming SP1 into your copy of Vista so you have it from a fresh install.

Honestly, i dont like Vista but i put up with it because i like DX10. Also alot of my buddies that bring their PCs to me to fix have started going Vista so i needed to learn it inside out. Makes me look better :D

U should get instant bannage - or atleast minus reps for putting that window where u did and taking a screenie!

I triple boot my main rig – Ubuntu for basic tasks, XP for games, and Vista (May as well use the OEM copy I bought a year ago) for the few Dx10 games I have.

Sorry for the late reply, but I just contacted you using the live help chat thing.

I've updated the BIOS on the laptop and it seems a lot more stable now for some reason :)

I decided to put vista x64 onto my main pc and so far it seems ok. It doesn't really seem that slow either.

The only bug/annoyance I have atm is with the soundcard as EAX is enabled all the time which makes sounds in CS:S sound wierd and a lot more bassy. It seems harder to differ between sounds in front or behind me :(

I've been playing with it on my system and the laptop over the weekend and it does actually seem ok once you disable UAC :) will be interesting to see if I feel the same in a week or two ;)
