What do you guys think of the new XFX 5970 4GB Black Edition LIMITED (in CrossFire)

i thought it was 2x 8pin and a 6pin

looks like a beast of a card, but think i'll wait to see the new 6-series

Shouldn't the release of the 6xxx cards very soon be enough of a reason to wait.

And yes, buying another one for Quadfire is just dumb. Scaling is just straight-up BAD, you won't get any respect from ud for having that expensive set-up.

Your e-peen with another 5970 will be smaller and more flaccid than it is already

.

Oh if you fold? hells to the yes, get TEN 480s lol. More the merrier and is all for charideee !

But doing it for games just hurts.. Badly.

I now sold my second 3870x2. Absolutely no point in keeping it apart from Bad Company 2. And the extra performance wasn't worth the price of the leccy

Two 5970s might net you 13K PPD, in terms of heat and electricity, a pair of 460s easily beats that.

But paper, well I caught mine doing this today:

how many PPD ?

But as Stepy said one GTX460 (hence the "new" WU) will already beat the crap out of 2x 5970....

just stupid IMHO i always had Ati cards untill i started with F@H

I wish ATI would get their thumbs out of their collective butt and work with the F@H team. I also wish a million quid would appear in my bank so oh well.

yeah mate ppl were hopin a lot with them and the gpu3 client but nothing ever happened they still fold sooooo poor

there gonna have to come up with something cuda like if they are to compete i think

Or something like an openGL compute type thing. I'm not too fussed as I have a pair of 280s to fold with and a 9800GT when it isn't too hot.

i dont see it happening like that as stanford codes for cuda and they wont go through all that trouble of gettin a new gpu client out just for ati when there's a hell of a lot of ppl out there already using nv's and the 460's are silly cheap for massssssive points (not to mention 6xxx's are not far away so will prob die wise set in stone wih no cuda like thing, along with the added cost of addin something like that in) and it took them a hell of a lot of time to get gpu3 out

i think its bad tho that stanford have not made the changes so ATI can fold,as i bet if they did them cards would pull some major points.

chin up tho mate atleast you can get some bad ass FPS in games

Its not up there with curing cancer, but 100+ fps on Heaven still makes me happy. Sadly eyefinity is very finnicky about crossfire, so for a few games its just 1/4 of the gpu pulling its weight. More than enough for the likes of Dirt 2 and Oblivion.

i think its a Complete waste of money. i think any 5970 is a complete waste of money. get 2 5850s, if you have the money to afford a $1200 card, you have the money to get a MOBO that supports 2 separate cards. or you can get one msi r5870 lightning and from what me and my friends have done you can OC it and make it REALLY close to 5970 speeds and with no scaling issues. the msi 5870 lighting is the only card i know of that can hit 1.2ghz core and over 1300 memory and temps just nicking 90c with a few hours of furmark. which would get you so close to 5970 specs for only $430.

Not every card can, Ive had 2 lightnings and neither of those did. Its the good old fashioned core lottery as ever.

did you up how much power went through them? there is an app to give the card more wattage, thats why they have 2 8pin. and that is most definatly true esspecially with AMD products. that is why if you cant get those results RMA it and get another one. thats what i do.
