I find it really annoying how so many are so out of touch with the people that voted out.
Claims it was a vote against the establishment or because of immigration
I voted to leave and am proud to have done so, Immigration for me had nothing to do with it. I am simply fed up with being directed by the EU.
It was a good idea initially when we joined the EU in what was then just a common market, it worked and did what it was set up for, but over the years it grew and grew and became more than just a trading agreement. Rules and regulations were being set by people I had not voted for or was ever able to vote for. Our fishing fleet was dissasembled.
Those saying it was about immigration can you explain why predominantly ethnic areas voted to leave? Birmingham, Bradford, Blackburn, Preston, and many areas with huge ethnic populations voted out.
Also citing areas that greatly benefit from EU funding such as Wales and heck Cornwall which I think get more EU funding yet they voted out.
It is deplorable to blame the older generation for ruining the countries future do we know what to come? no we do not but I have seen comments not so much here that state old people should not have been allowed to vote, and that 16 year olds should be allowed. and now calling for another referendum Sour grapes at having lost but its a 1 shot event not a best of three.
Accept it and move on.
The fact that the younger generation were more for remain is valid however had they turned out in full force or greater numbers then maybe just maybe the result would have been different.
I voted out because I want to keep our nation as a country not part of a united states of europe with a European army and opening up the NHS to USA companies
As far as the money being spent on the nhs I dont recall anyone actually saying it was going to be spent on the NHS. I do recall several times it stated as the money not being sent to the EU would be available for the NHS and that is quite a different statement indeed.
Gonna end here as Im starting to rant but I will close in saying that as a nation we need to come together and make this work and I know it can work. there are many opportunities to trade globally and continue to play a role
