Vista usbport.sys 500hz mouse polling rate.

As good as having the extra polling rate setting etc it seems to eat CPU up. My cpu usage jumps to almost 50% at times when im just waving it around desktop to see its usage. Im running it on an E6700 OC to 3.5GHZ.

Almost50% + games usage is gonna be bad:nono: . Is it worth having for this....

ah, I just said screw it and got the razer deathadder from Bestbuy it has no problems running 500mz or 1000mz on Vista 64-bit and it has 1800 dpi And it only cost fifty bucks Thats the same price i paid for my old piece of crap mouse from Radiosack, and the deathadder is suposed to be the best gaming mouse, I dont know if thats true but its definitly the best mouse I've ever owned and its only fifty bucks.:yumyum:

great, but DPI is nothing but: "Higher sensitivity", it's not a new technology it's just a lame way to sell mice, it also gives acceleration and btw. a Lazer mouse is more inaccurate than an optical mouse, I'm not kidding.

Any one who has found a fix to get 500hz on a fully updated version of Windows Vista x64?

I would rather not uninstall the two updates, that someone suggested, because they are actually fixing a lot of serious problems, and Vista is very unstable in the first place, uninstalling these updates are just going to make it even more unstable.

I have tried everything, the only "Extra" thing i have to do was:

Right clicking on the usbport.sys file > Properties > and then giving my user the full rights to editing the file, and "yes!" my user-account was actually an administrator account in the first place.

So i did everything correct, but my USB ports just stopped working, but the backup file was easy to reinstall since my mousepad still worked on my laptop

Ditto, I'm having the exact same issue on the latest updated version of vista x64 ultimate. Since the update the usb port patch no longer works! I ended up having to do a system restore from the CD because i couldn't use my mouse or keyboard! I would be so grateful to XMS if he did a bit more hex editing to the newer usbport.sys files as there is nowhere else on the net that has done this! :worship:

Yeah same problem. All USB devices all dead after reboot. Im running Vista x64. Did everything the instruction said.

My MX510 can handle 1000MHz. In XP it works like a charm.

Uninstall those two updates and the mouse fix will work.

Thats the only work around I can find so far. The usbport.sys files are the same apparantly before and after the updates so its not the fix that needs fixing.

Seem prob. here, tried everything, but if I replace usbport.sys with the 500hz for x64 my mouse doesnt work at all......also tried to undelete the 2 updates, but no luck, please can someone come-up with a solution?????

I have also tried this fix on my Windows Ult64 with my Razer Deathadder which supports 1000hz, and it doesn't work.

I have tried to uninstall both updates as well, and still does same thing.

just that no usb device works after i replace the file.

it's annoying because i'm locked down to only 125hz. right now when i try to raise the Hz in my driver, my mouse just doesn't work anymore.

it's perfectly fine with XP however.

Has anyone found a way to change the USB polling rate in Vista SP1 x64? I cannot find a way to remove the said hotfixes since they are included in SP1. Is there any way to do this? I just upgraded from XP x64 and my mouse(mx518) is now very sluggish. Is there any way to remove hotfixes that are included in the service pack?

For those who are having problems with Windows Vista x64 and USB ports not responding, don't you forget to press F8 at boot to disable driver signature enforcement ? The driver isnt signed, so you have to do this.

With latest updates and SP1 for Vista x64 the command line to disable driver signature is not effective, you have to press F8 at boot -painfull - so if you forget to press F8... well, no more usb ports.

I just applied the driver now with latest updates and SP1 and it works.

EDIT : if you do not want to press F8 at boot, use this tool (safe and clean) :

Driver Plus from Citadel Industries

It's a boot script that will automatically press F8 for you at boot, and disable driver signature. Better than other solution turning Windows into dev mode or so.

I pressed F8 and went into safe mode, ran the commands and renamed the old file and put in the new file. Did not work.
