Vista usbport.sys 500hz mouse polling rate.

did you try the tools i linked to from ngohq?

I just tried it now. I tried it at 1000MHZ for my joystick and I think there is a significant improvement. It seems to respond to inputs a lot quicker than before. However, when I am playing the games I usually play I notice some lag/frame skips for some reason. Although this may possibly just be my connection acting up coincidentally. Does this 'patch' make the computer work harder therefore increasing the CPU usage?

I haven't tried it for the Mouse though. Since my priority is Joystick > Mouse is it possible to install the HIDUSB files for both Mouse and joystick? I'm holding off on installing the file for the mouse because I don't want it to override the effects of the joystick.

Last question, do I have to boot up the HIDUSBF Setup file everytime I want the effects to work or does it work by itself without having to open/initializing any programs?

Update: Vista is now also always booting up in "Test Mode" because the new driver isin't Microsoft certified or something. Anyway to get around this?

Just wanted to let you guys know that your tweak might give problems with certain USB devices, since it affects all USB connections.

Because of this, the program USBHIDF is created.

This driver/program is intended to "overclock" USB mice under Windows 98 through XP x64, Windows Vista 32 bit, Windows Vista 64 bit (with disabled driver signature enforcement).

Program changes only mouse rate, not touching other devices on USB.

[...]

I have personally tested it under Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 SP2/SP4, Windows XP RTM/SP1/SP2, Windows Vista 32 bit RTM, Windows Vista 64 bit RTM. Testing under Windows XP x64 SP1 was performed by Dark_Cloud.

I cant post an url due to this forums anti-spam policy for new registered users, so make this work yourself ;)

Hi I just tried to get my mouse up to 500 Hz.

But as I was ready and did the reboot my usb slots didn't work anymore :(

I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit + SP 1

*sigh* a LOT of 1 posters saying their usb ports are not working anymore.

I have just tried this myself, my usb ports have bugged out too. Solve it by plugging in a usb keyboard (best) or mouse (bit worse). With the keyboard you should be able to reach the usbport.old and rename it (F2). With the mouse you can also get there by just browsing and renaming using the onscreen keyboard, which is accessed using the start menu -> all programs -> accessoires -> 'toegankelijkheid' (accessibility?) -> onscreen keyboard.

Going to try the hidusbf program now.

Yes, that's the one.

Tried it, it failed. After disabling the integrity checks again (had already done it for my wireless drivers), I ran setup.exe and set my mx518 to 500Hz. Ater a reboot, mouserate.exe still gave me a max of 126Hz.

Can't change my rate from 125 :/. I'm using Vista 64. I need to change it bad, not installing XP for just this lol. I have tried EVERYTHING.

you followed all the instructions, enabling test mode and testsigning the driver file with the "driver signature enforcement overrider" etc. ?

damn, sorry guys :(

easiest option i can think of then, is to pick up a razer mouse *shrug*

or some other mouse with usb polling options

i've never had to use any extra apps to increase the rate

Same here, i tried both methods. First method, with a new usbport.sys file, my mouse stopped working. Second method, i got your same result, driver installed correctly, test mode enabled, driver signed, rebooted 2 times. I can set any value, my polling rate will stay at 125hz.

I'm using Vista Premium x64. When I first installed the usbport.sys file, it stopped my mouse and keyboard from working.

I had a hunch that Vista wasn't loading the driver due to signing... So, on a reboot, I chose "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" from the F8 menu, and it worked.

Vista is not loading the usbport.sys because it's not signed/recognized by the OS.

I had problems with this and other aftermarket drivers in the past... What I used then, and decided to use again now is ReadyDriver Plus Which is a free program which automatically selects the "Disable Driver Signature Enforcment" startup option on boot, so you don't have to worry about it.

I'm using my MX518 at 1000Hz polling rate in Vista x64 using the modified usbport.sys and ReadyDrive Plus and it's working great. Checked using mouserate, and it's working fine.

Hope this helps.

ReadyDrive Plus is available at the url h.t.t.p://citadel.x10hosting.com/readydriverplus (sorry I can't post URLs because I don't have 15 posts.)

I recently installed windows 7 RC1 x64. I tried to use the vista x64 usbport.sys. But i didn't work. All my usb-devices stoped working. lucky me i had a ps/2 keyboard lying around so that i could restore the original usbport.sys. Hopefully there will turn up a "hacked" usbport.sys for the windows 7 os soon. thx anyway.
