Vista usbport.sys 500hz mouse polling rate.

im curious about this. does it really help? how so? ive used my mx510 on the ps2 port for its life and recently usb without drivers. one time i tried with drivers and got lag in games so i never did that again...

Just did this hack, works great on x86 Vista Ultimate. Tried both the 1000Hz and 500Hz, both work as advertised, to the T with the guide.

However, at first I thought it didn't work. Much to my surprise, my brand new Logitech V450 Cordless Laser mouse will barely budge above 125Hz, I think it hit 130Hz. I tried all different ports on my laptop, same deal. Then I plugged in my 4-5 year old Logitech MX300 Cord Laser mouse, and it worked as advertised by the hacked version of the usbport.sys, and on the same USB ports I tried the V450 on. So if you're not nudging about the 125Hz, it may not be the hacks or the USB port's fault...could just be your mouse.

BTW thanks for the hack and guide XMS :D

I got everything going correctly and I'm using Vista 32 bit with an MX518.

After the switch my mouse in games is slow and inconsistent with reaction and movement

I used the 500hz one and just moving my mouse around on the mouserate program its going anywhere from 80 to 1600 hz, mostly above 1200. This wide of a change is horrible when trying to play something.

Anyone know what might be the problem? Is there a way to lock it at a hz level and not go above or below?

Thanks

mouserate

downloaded the zip-file, unzipped with the latest winrar....I only get 1 file which is 953kb big.....something wrong with this file again???

edit: its ok now.....

Ok, It works, but I like to tell you guys how I did it:

- Go to the file usbport.sys in "c:\windows\system32\drivers"

- right-click on it and go to "properties"

- go to the security TAB --> and now to advanced

- change the owner in YOU --> push "apply"

- go back to security TAB

- give yourself all delegations ->> push "apply"

Now you can just copy/paste the file you like to use.....

Please let me know what you think of this oppurtunity

(sorry for my English if its not 100% ....im dutch)

The file works fine at 500hz (you have to remember to extract the files inside the zip folder to reveal 5 folders including the mouserate exe).

Yes that's probably the right place if you are using Vista x64

Hello again, Well I managed to ask Razor for support in upping the polling rate in their drivers on the Razor Diamondback. I received this email from the staff.

Hi,

It is not possible to change the polling rate on the Razer Diamondback.

Thank you for supporting Razer.

Best Regards,

Razer Customer Support

Seems they were slightly off on that as Ive applied the patch and reporting a 500 polling rate with the Razor Diamondback.

Thanks again XMS!

Might try the 1000 patch next :D

I've not tried this polling rate business, so any advantage over the enemy is a good thing :)

Is there like a patch I could try for XP or is it simple to change manually?

Yeah.. I would like to be able to mod xps polling rate.

I don't have a flashy mouse! So no flashy drivers! ;)

All it is mate is a patch that lets you choose from rates of 250 500 or 1000 and all you have to do is install the patch (it recomends in safe mode) but i just wacked it in and seems fine for me, after that just reboot ur pc, theres also a small program which shows you what rate ur currently using so u can check if its worked etc
