Virtual Machine

I have Vista and XP in dual Boot and I only use XP for my games simply because they run allot faster and are more compatible, BUT it’s a pain in the bum swapping OS!! I was wondering, can I install vista then install XP as a virtual machine, would my XP games run the same if it was in the XP virtual machine? Are there ANY disadvantages?
