Virgin Media Doubling Your Broadband Speeds

Slightly different news but interesting non the less, for Virgin Media customers anyway.

Don't know if this has been advertised on TV or not so some may already know about it but I don't watch TV and only found out about it when looking at my latest bill on Virgin's site.

Check to see when your area will get the upgrade here

doesn't include my area as we don't even have fibre optic cable lol

should install that first then double other peoples speeds

I take it we are getting a upload boost as well. I don't need more down speed at the minute i need more up speed.

The whole thing confuses me.

I have 100meg and they are upgrading me to 120 and discounting it to the 50meg service. But that means I'm paying the same as someone that's getting 100 (the people that were on 50) but getting 20meg more

Seems strange!!!!

Then there was the:

1st email: We're giving you more speed for less!!

2nd email: ooops that email was sent in error please ignore it but we will have some good news for you soon...

1st letter: We're giving you more for less!!!

I don't know what to believe. Wouldn't surprise me if I get a 2nd letter saying the 1st was an error.

nah they are killing the "50mb" service once it goes up and you will all get 120mb for the same money from what i understand.
 
i have o2 8mb broadband, i kinda feel left

I many devices connecting to the internet especially in evenings so things get very slow, its like dial up slow

I can get BT Infinity but that's FTTC, i want FTTH more speeds

My 100 down 10 up gets boosted to 120 down 12 up AND bill reduction by £10 a month in april, well chuffed tbh as 100 doesnt cost all that much more than skys equivilent as it is.

Closest equivalent deal with sky would be around the same amount of TV channels as i get with virgin, same free evening and weekend phone calls, yet only UP TO 19 meg net (one of my neighbors only gets 12-13 down yet they also got told up to 19) all for around £40 a month after the "lower price for a few months" junk + line rental.

With virgin i get pretty much the same channels/phone setup i would get with sky as above,but with the virgin net im exempt from any throttling for large amounts of traffic in a set period that i would be stuck with on sky, its atleast 5x faster (more like 7 1/2x from what people around me get on sky) and its only £17.50 a month more.

Once the reduction kicks in ill be getting 6x (more like 9.5x) faster than sky BB WITHOUT the heavy network usage throttling for just £7.50 more a month, not a bad deal tbh.

BTW i would be happy to live with slower net aslong as the being exempt from throttling was still there, it is 100% worth the £7.50 a month over sky imho just for that.
