Upgrading computer speakers

Hey guys,

I am using the Creative sound blaster x-fi external sound card with my laptop but my logitech 530's are on the way out and I was thinking about buying some new speakers.

I was thinking about straying away from the computer speaker market and going for something a little more home theater. As my sound card has optical out i'd be able to hook up a home theater receiver and a set of speakers and play my music that way correct?

Is anyone currently doing this or should I just stick to a better set of computer speakers such as the Z-5500's?

for a laptop you are probly better of using pc speakers, and i have always gone logitech until i bought some altec lansing for like £30 and they are amazing so i would say any by that make, but logitech are good

yeah i was thinking about hooking the new speakers up to a new tv...which i may purchase for next year as i'm moving out of my current house. I just want something Loud, clear and lots of bass heh heh. I thought about the home theater receiver because my dad has some tower speakers laying around his house that he's not using.

get a small cd player instead and some proper passive speakers. my cd player has an av input for audio, so im using an av to 3.5mm jack to connect my pc to the cd player. nothing better than sound from some nice big floor standing speakers!
