lol i hear the reason that countries that have more recently reached first world status have faster internet is because they basically got internet later, and simply adopted faster standards as their first standard. when i was in seoul in 2007, 100mb/s seemed to be the standard. it was like... the cheapest package we could even get for the few months we were staying there, and i don't even know anyone there who has anything but 100. for the same reasons, india was supposed to get the fastest internet in the world some time ago, but not sure exactly what happened to that...
