Those little annoying F@H things ..

Yuck, what happened?

Not really sure. The VGA Led on my motherboard was on and there seemed to be some moisture on the PCB. I guess something blew internally.

I'll dismantle the card when I can to find out more. I've heard good things about EVGA's RMA process so I'm hoping to be back up and running relatively soon.

Do you mind if I ask what temperatures it normally ran at, and the style of cooler you have?

Not at all.

EVGA ACX Cooler and average temps were around 75 C. My gigabyte 580 lasted for twice as long under the same conditions and the only failure was the fans (2 out of the 3 died).

I hope it's still under warranty ;)

I've have an EVGA 780Ti also, but with the reference-style blower. I'm admittedly a little paranoid about it failing. Luckily it's about 10C~ outside now and my GPU is running at a cool 65C with the fan set at 70%. That should help with the longevity.

65 C is excellent. My room is exceptionally warm so it's not really possible to lower my card temps any further without taking my case's side panel off or water cooling.

My card is still under warranty :). I have registered my card on evga's website and I'm currently waiting for a support ticket number. Once I get the number I'll fill out an RMA request form and see what evga has to say.

Just an update:

Regarding my RMA, I got a reply from EVGA and the process has started :). I will receive shipping details tomorrow or the day after so I'm hoping I'll have a replacement card early next week.

I've run into a slight problem. My GPU is not folding and is stuck on an "Update_core" message. Have any of you guys run into this before?

Yes, I've had that before. I stopped the client and deleted the cores plus work folder from the data directory. After a reboot of the machine a new core downloaded and everything was fine again.

I'll try that and report back, thanks :)

EDIT: I've tried that and the GPU appears to be folding, but the ETA on the current WU is 10.2 days with the credit at 17123. It's a core 17. I also get an error when trying to add a client-type flag.

It was folding fine yesterday. I hope the card's not borked.
