Those little annoying F@H things ..

What's ppd are you getting for the 750Ti now that the numbers have settled down?

Same as before on the core15...just over 15k.

Core17 still not working, Stanford are looking into whether a new core update will get it working if it won't then it's up too Nvidia to fix it.

Well it has come to this, all my contributions are SMP only for now as the HD6790 is SNAFU for folding, I'm not the only one either it's all down to the "BARTS" GPUs being lame at processing large WU's even with the max_packet_size flag set to small or normal it's just a crap card for folding with nowadays.

Welcome to the F@H Forum wraithguard,

Unfortunately, FahCore_17 is the only way that AMD GPUs can contribute now. FahCore_16 has reached end of life (https://folding.stanford.edu/home/core1 ... d-of-life/) and thus, once FahCore_16 Projects are stopped, you will only get FahCore_17 WUs on the supported GPUs.

The 7950 that was artifacting keeps causing the machine to hard lock. Probably need to do an RMA....bleh. PPD down last week and until I get a replacement. Hopefully Sapphire will do an advanced RMA.

Sorry to hear bud, did you try reseating card and 6pin power connectors, try a different slot? Did you try switching the bios switch?

Mine are still going strong....

Got some older nvidia cards turned off ATM as they are only getting 8018's. I will not run those anymore for the same reason that some peeps will not run SMP, no points for the HEAT/ELECTRICITY. :(

If prices fall a bit more on AMD stuff I may get a couple of cards to replace the 4x nvidia cards. There is no more core 16 projects so only core 17 24/7 on AMD:cool:

I decided to join the F@H effort again. Quite some time has gone by since I folded and things changed. The WUs my GPUs are working on are really big. Over 17k base points each (P13000 and P13001). The 240k PPD FAH control predicts per R9 290X card seems ridiculous to me. If that is true I'll get over 80k for a finished WU. We will have to wait wether this is even possible.

I used my system to mine LiteCoins, but since the Diff is so high, it's not worth mining anymore. I think I'll leave two R9 290Xs folding pretty much 24/7 and I'll run the third whenever I'm not in the middle of a game - which ought to be around night time.

How long this folding phase will last I don't know yet. But I figure the few hundred thousand PPD will be good for the team anyhow. Maybe we can get close to 3 million PPD now ;)

Welcome back! It will be interesting to see the PPD after a few days.

if the first two finished WUs are any indicator, than we're looking at about 173k PPD per R9 290X. But I reached this even with the computer shutting down for a bit and changing some settings. It really only has been folding for the last 8h or so properly.

Now I even added an overclock to 1060/1350 (stock according to PowerColor), so the TPF is just under 6 minutes. However, I've not yet gained full stability. Quite often the load jumps to 0% and sometimes stays there until I restart the client. I don't know why.

If the 6 minutes for those P13000 and P13001 would remain constant, I'd be looking at nearly 200k PPD per R9 290X. Which is still a lot I think, but a little more realistic...

Edit:

I toyed around with the OC settings and I think I found some settings with lower spikes in terms of load and frequency on the GPUs.

Here to compare:

Before:

After:

Lost a bit of folding progress though. But I'll make it up now ;)
TPF is still just shy of 6 minutes. So roughly 200k per 290X

Just a heads up for you guys running client-type beta, there is a new WU 9407 that runs OK on some equipment and fails time after time on other. not sure if it is the WU's or the particular hardware.

On my GTX 480s they will fail before engaging the core download a new one and fail again until it it happens 5 times and the client shuts down.

That happened to me yesterday :(

My PPD has been horrible as of late.

Finished a new 9407 and only got base points 13k instead of 47k indicated when it finished :(

The same thing happened to me when some new WU's were released, I spoke to on of the mods on the Folding Forum and he said that there was nothing they could do with the missing points as basically it's your own risk if you decide to fold beta

are the P9407 WUs limited to nVidia or have I just been lucky? I keep getting the P13000 and P13001 WUs.

I only saw them on my nvidia cards, my AMD cards are getting 13000 and 13001.

I removed client-type beta on the nvidia cards and I'm get core 15 and 17 WU's on them now.

Two cards run wonderfully but GPU 1 (in my case the one the monitor is attached to) keeps running with half the speed and I don't know why.

Does anybody else use multiple AMD GPUs and knows maybe how to fix this issue

I have a 7950 and a 7970 in the same computer running 14.1 beta drivers and have no issues. The 7950 is the primary card, and no XFire setup.

If you have XFire enabled you might try folding with it disabled and see if that helps.

It is disabled. I added the screenshot of GPUz to give more information.

I guess maybe the driver isn't on par for the R9 200 series as it is for the 7000 series GPUs.

I might be forced to wait for a new driver. I tried them beta drivers, and they are awful! Bad bad stability issues - even stock!
