Ebay has some cheap cards. I just won myself an ultra cheap nvidia GT440 which will be folding 24/7 as soon as it arrives. Just hope the 5 year old 250w PSU can cope with the extra 50 watts. Extreme Outervision's PSU calculator says my PC will use 156 Watts of power so I hope that the two 12V rails worth 8A and 14A will stand this card. Hope it last 24/7 for a month until I upgrade.

Anyway the GT440 is good for 4-5k PPD.

I updated my drivers to the latest beta drivers for Skyrim. Well, now my 470's won't fold at full speed, they are only pulling about 9k each now instead of 12-15k. I dropped back to the old drivers and they are doing the same thing.

Anyone have any ideas?

It hasn't happened yet but I am preempting it. I'm back in Manchester but only for a few days so I have left my main rig at my parents house folding away.

So one of three things is going to happen

1) BSOD - Not seen one of these since running at 4.5ghz @ 1.392v buts sods law.

2) The plug gets pulled out

3) Some little 'thing' with little kiddy fingers finds the rest button.

I can't Fold 24/7 like I used to. My mom keeps turning the PC off when I'm gone because "it's too loud".

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

How the hell do you guys put up with loud PCs? For the most part I cant hear mine over the TV, and thats folding 100% on both the CPU and 2 GFX cards!

eHehe i used to have 3 rigs 24/7 , blowing like a mad men,

i just don't hear it anymore + when i watch tele... i have headphones on

My previous rig (Q6600 @ 3.2 + 8800GT) was silent. Or as silent as you could get. Even when running 100%.

The only noise it made was the very (very, very) slight sound of air passing through the case. If a window was open you couldn't distinguish the PC over ambient noise.

My current rig is louder than that. I could tweak it to be quieter, infact I probably will, but since installing an Arctic cooler on my 560Ti I can just about live with it.

P.S I never had to change the cooler on my 8800GT.

P.P.S Thermalright coolers are part of the secret to quiet rigs that need decent CPU cooling.

I have no idea. For lack of a better explanation, "I just do". Right now, I intend to swap out the stock AMD cooler for something quieter, but not before I buy a GTX 550 Ti (for FAH - but the excuse is a new, higher res monitor).

Well I find my fan controller great for lowering noise. I have all my system fans down to 5V when folding overnight (Which I will be doing tonight). When all the fans are down at 5V Including the two on my A70, the 4Ghz i5 never goes past 62 degrees!

Even on high my fans are pretty quiet with a fan controller

. It's -1 here so the temps should be awesome. CPU usually goes over 60, but is staying below 58 now

.

well, I'm slightly POed. My mom turned off my PC while I was at my dad getting my Ghost Recon t-shirt and I lost my most recent 7200 unit (#47). at 39%. I got a replacement 7200 though.

Hmmm the first re-boot and that's after i started using the v7 client

but it IS running without problems now , fingers crossed !

You could try and use the -send all flag, might help ...

do that when you stop the console, then start it up and it will wait untill it IT is gone..

then after doing that, remove the flag and start Folding again
smile.gif

but if the specific server is down and stays down, it might NOT send at all.........

I kinda think you already know this... but hey its for everybody that reads this

Happy Folding..........

Link to flags user guide , also for all......

Dont think i can use it on linux client. But thanks the info mate

Its more likely Stu servers. It had 10 try to send before it downloaded a new wu.

Why not? I've used -configonly, -verbosity 9, -bigbeta, -smp flags on the Linux client...I don't see why the -sendall flag wouldn't work.

I would try it but I don't currently have a monitor hooked up to my Linux rig
