Those little annoying F@H things ..

Power went out yesterday at my house and I didn't realize it until now, lost maybe 20 hours of folding a bigbeta unit!

My Linux rigs have decided they no longer like booting from USB so until I can source a couple of cheap SATA hard drives, they're out of action.

How many do you need? I just replaced 3 80gig drives from a fileserver and don't have any use for them...they're yours if you want.

sit at you pc all day and it is folding fine

go to sleep, wake up and face a BSOD, you then go into windows and it tells you it happened half an hour after you went to bed :/

i was still awake reading a book with my monitors switched off

I had that happen to me quite a bit. Turned out the stable 4.6ghz I was running at wasn't as stable as I thought.

I don't have such a great clocking 2600k... It's now rock solid, 4.43ghz @ 1.36v (CPU-Z reading)

My mom turned the PC off because it was loud...twice. Well, time for quieter heatsink. And a few other things...(RAM for sure). If you folders need HW, and I got something spare, it's yours. I'll have a loose stick of RAM soon.

It had been folding for at least 7 days

Yeah, thats pretty bad then.

I managed to have mine up for about 2 days before BSOD+Restart. I'm trying to edge my way back up too see where the wall is, because I still havnt seen 4.6ghz stable and I tried at ~1.4v which in itself is a little too high for 27/4 that I would feel comfortable with.

4.5ghz @ 1.36 (cpuz) at the moment

My mother complains about the noise too. I have ordered quieter fans so she can't hear the PC in the bedroom next door.

How can you guys put up with soo much noise comming from your PC? My previous PC was silent, thats not possible now with the amount of heat GPU's are pumping out. But i'd say the 2 seagate hard drives that I have a contributing to atleast 30% of the noise.

I'm just

lol

you can hear my pc in the room below when it is folding

My old PC, with a Q6600 @ 3.2ghz and a 8800GT was wisper quiet. If you had a window open, you couldn't tell it from the noise from outside even if it wasn't windy at all.

And it didn't get any louder when folding either.

It got to the point where I had to mount my hard drives on foam because they were the loudest things in there, and segate drives arnt really knowen for being noisy.

Once I have found the stable clocks I want 24/7 I will goto work on my new case and fans to try and reduce some of the noise. 7v probably for most of them, 5v for the ones I can get away with. I might invest in a fan controler, but my last one kinda hated me and so I'm a tad sour towards them.

all the noise in my rig is coming from the 2 xigmatek fans on my silver arrow and my 570 phantom when the fans spin up

rest is silent

dont have any hard drives to make any noise
