Those little annoying F@H things ..

Back to having all 3 rigs sat idle due to no wu’s being available, Oh well cheap day on the electricity side then ^_^

I seem to get a few on one day then hardly any the next. Think my PC was idle most of the night.

A restart seems to help getting WUs as the client has just started one.

I'm sick of babysitting to be honest, messing about at stupid o'clock in the morning restarting clients isnt my idea of fun.

Yeah, it does take a while to get work units ATM. Have an RTX 2060 running ATM to bolster the team, alongside my work system (It has a GTX 960, but every little helps).

I'm not even bothering to restart clients anymore.

I've been Babysitting the **** out of my clients the past 2-3days & to be honest i'm losing the will to live with the amount of times i've Paused, Restart, Quit & Restarted.

Wasn't there supposed to be new servers up & running around the world to help? I'm Sorry guys but it helped for like 1 week and now everything has gone tits up again. :banghead:

It looks like a lot of big cloud companies have jumped into the Folding@home project, such as Amazon, VMware, Oracle etc. There have been server upgrades, but the sheer number of computers that are trying to access the network now are insane.

My system has had decent numbers of work units today, but there has been a while where there has been nothing. It's annoying, but it is what it is.

Big cloud companies jumping on other cloud companies? So cloud within a cloud? Thats interesting lol :D

AWS has its own stuff set up for contributing to this project. Not sure about hosting though. It's likely they are working with Azure or AWS as they are the only 2 big enough to scale a project to this size and speed if they are indeed using them as hosts.

If they are using AWS, AWS has been having issues through their AWS Management Consoles and services for me and a few others. So this F@H stuff could be the cause.

Well thats my 1070 broke (again)

Was just sat watching a vid whilst the rig was folding away when it just shut off, i thought power cut...Nope, Pressed the power button & nothing, Killed the power from the wall & waited couple of minutes and tried again, Powered back up but with a burning smell :o quickly killed the power then opened up to see / smell exactly where it was coming from but couldn't find anything so...

Waited afew more minutes and turned back on again for a split second, flash fizzle from one of the 1070s caps, oh thats where its coming from :D

Whether its still under warranty this time i don't know, it's already been rma'd once before so i'll see what Overclockers / Gigabyte say.

Ouch, that's sucks. One of the 1060's I run refuses to stay stable with folding so I gave up on it.

I've had a change around, I've pulled my 1080 from one of my other old rigs & put it in this one.

The 1080 was never really folding to its full potential in the old X6 1055T anyway due to the low 2.8ghz clock & to be honest the 1070 was near enough as fast in this old i5 2500 as the 1080 was in the other. Granted certain Core22 wu's let the 1080 stretch its legs but most were held back by the low base clock.

Oh well, what to buy now? Mind you i don't think i'll bother as all cards seem to be like £100+ more than they were a month+ back (is someone taking the **** or what)

What Temps are you seeing on your 2080S with your room @ 28 degrees?

Sorry missed this one.. It's sitting around 84 celcius pretty much irrelevant of ambient temperature. I'll definitely be sticking a waterblock on it when the full rig goes water, all air currently. The rig is only pulling ~350w from the wall though!

Had a 13404 today that took around 4 hrs to finish on a 2080.

Read up on the F@H forums and they are experimental WUs so I guess that explains it.

Although I've had a second 13404 in a row and this one is only going to take 2 hrs...

GTX 1080 died this morning :( No signal. Tried it in a spare pc and exactly the same.

It got RMA'd for the exact same issue a few years back and has been folding away happily ever since.

Oh well i'll pop it next to my dead GTX 1070 to keep it company

Always a sad day when a GPU dies, especially a 1080...I'll pour one out for our fallen comrade.
