Those little annoying F@H things ..

Intel is the answer to your SMP problem mate
smile.gif

Yeah, I know but Intel CPU's cost a lot, money which I don't have atm. Btw, got this message on my V2 GPU tracker client

"GPU 0 failed to complete a project 4724 WU (EARLY_UNIT_END)" It has now started a new GPU WU. Will this affect the bonus points from having 10+ successful WU's?

My GTX560 non Ti keeps getting a UNSTABLE MACHINE ERROR

thinking this GTX560 is fubar because it does this at stock clocks as well........

will return it monday for a Ti.....

Power bill went up another $40. Folding is shutting completely down while we figure out how to get our electric bill down. New insulation probably (since this house has NONE and I'm in Florida).

Talking of power/ppd to £$ cost, i'm thinking about ditching some / getting some new hardware as i'm sure i can increase my ppd whilst lowering the leccy bill slightly. I stopped folding on my old E6600 ages go because the ppd/£££ didnt add up & i'm thinking the same way with my Q6600 & 8800gt (in separate rigs) Mind you saying that the main culprit is the X6 which sucks leccy like a Pro

good thing i haven't got the 5870 folding as well

Yeah, my 2500K makes everything else I have look like ancient history when it comes to PPD/watt. It triples the PPD/watt of my GTX275, and even the GTX460 is only about 3/4 (while overclocked and running a good WU.)

While the Q6600 and 8800GT arnt the latest and greatest, I don't think the PPD/Watt will be all that bad. I had a Q6600 @ 3.2 and a 8800GT running from an old Tagan 480w PSU with only 28a on the 12v rail (These days a Corsair PSU rated around 480w would have more than 28a on the 12v) and there was still room to spare on that PSU.

I know the quoted watt numbers for a 8800GT are not half that of a GTX 460 but I'd place money on, while folding, a GTX 460 draws about twice as much power as a 8800GT, for twice the PPD. The newer nvidia cards while under alot of stress (i.e furmark) draw more power than there stated spec says it should. I'm pretty sure folding, while not as demanding as furmark, still causes the newer cards to draw more power than there spec sheets say. Going by the heat output on my old 8800GT, I don't think it did draw more power above spec while folding.

Anyway, that's enough of that. Just wanted to give you something to think about.

What can cause PPD to go down? today, i launched GPU tracker and then after like 30mins or so my PPD was around 14,200 and WU completion time of 15Hours. About 1 hour after that, its do all the way down to 5562 with a completion time of 1 day 4Hours.

I don't have nothing else running, i simply left the rig on to fold, turned off monitor and went out.

This is what my rigs are pulling from the wall...

Q6600 + 460gtx (both folding) = 250w max...17k ppd at the mo

E6600 + 8800gt (gpu folding) = 175w max...5k ppd

X6 1055T + 5870 (cpu folding) = 200w max...10k ppd ave

How the f*** can my gpu2 console client lose my credentials? Somehow my name, team number & passkey got wiped

I was thinking the numbers of wu's ive sent back was low & yep for the last 7days (if not more) its been sending back as anonymous.

Oh well it's all for the cause but i'd of liked the points myself

I have no idea but i am losing WU's here and there
blink.gif

and i was going to try NOT to babysit it all the time
angry.gif

And the freaking weird part is , that i am not seeing any ERRORS
unsure.gif

yet i am 100% sure i should score higher , A WELL as long as the WU gets in and be of importend , then i am happy !

EDIT /looks at 4xxxPPD of today, that is wrong !Q

All the best Ray........

Similar problems here, the 430s keep needing the unit paused and unpaused to get them utilised as they are abandoned by the WU after about 10 hours or so.

Don't know about everyone else, but here in Canada its starting to heat, and i see why summer folding is a challenge for most. Currently my living room is at 25.5C and my bedroom where my rig is, feels significantly hotter
sad.gif
... i have my window open and balcony door open, but its like 18C outside and even thats not helping..... its gonna suck till i turn on the a/c, but after that it should start to get better. So i might lose a little ppd, but i'll try to deal with the heat

Edit

Just had a look at my main rig and the V7 client has crashed.!!! grr. Been like that for atleast 24 hours.

/Edit

As much of a pain as it can be, if the heat gets too much, either disable GPU folding OR use something like MSI Afterburner and down clock the GPU to 50% - 75% and see if that's any better.

I'd rather take a hit on PPD and still crunch some units than abandon it all together when the heat builds up.

This advise isn't just for yourself but anyone else reading.

I think I could put my ITX rig on the Sun, it'd still be at 62 - 63*c, that thing is immortal in it's dwarfness

Main rig and Athlon rig are running cool too, no problems here in England
