Well he did create the delliding tool that retailers now sell, that alone requires him to have worked with loads of CPUs.

Getting his own CPU soldered is a major step, really impressive. I do think that Intel would do well if they worked with him or at least consulted him to help improve their thermal compound or aspects of the IHS design.

Honestly it's a shame that from Ivy onwards they've stopped soldering but as per the article it's hard to justify the costs considering the vast majority of users just plug it in and go.

They could release a special line (Eg Extreme 6700KS) that is soldered I guess but once again cost would be hardly worth it. They probably see that market being serviced by the Xeons and Haswell-E line.

Still credit to him. Was a good read and I like his (ahem) tool.
