The crate.

Secret rich friend or government cockup ? :D

Haha the latter. My mates all have kids :D

I sent in a reassessment last August? Gawd knows dude. Then my uncle was diagnosed with terminal cancer so our minds were 100% on that. Then he died and then the funeral, where we all caught COVID. So it's been rough.

They phoned last week and did a quick assessment. Seems my mobility has been increased and that back dates. Not 100% sure as I'm waiting for the letter but aye, something was increased

Which is good, cause life is about as expensive as I ever remember ATM

Well enjoy it :)

My dad is not so lucky, He is physically quite messed up, Seething pain 24/7 from being hit by a drunk woman in a car doing 60 on the wrong side of the road, Neck, Spine, Hips, Legs... all messed up with pins and plates in both legs and mesh things in his neck and up his spine.

He did get the lowest basic of basic disability benefits but apparently now he's not disabled enough and when asked what they mean the person said "well his spine may regrow"...... so they cut his benefits of which he paid into the system for decades down to £50 per month.

Meanwhile a woman over the hall from me, she's nice enough and we've talked at length, who has worked maybe 5 years of her entire 36 year life gets near £2000 a month, with all her rent paid... and her worst issue is anxiety mixed with some OCD... the UK benefits system is broken.

Yeah it's very strange. Mine was cut £300 a month a few years back. I was right off a suicide attempt so I didn't fight it. I just didn't have the wherewithal.

It's a constant battle tbh. This is the only time it was "stress free" but that's only because I forgot all about it due to what was going on.

I live with an autistic trust now. That's the reason. They have their own lawyers in house to fight for me and the DWP know it.

BTW I totally get the fukkery of the spine thing. They assess me every year thinking that autism and bipolar are curable.

Grabbed a 2tb NVME. Will return the 1tb SATA SSDs to the server where I pinched them from lol.

Here we go ! case got. The box is enormous, so I totally fell erse over head when coming up the stairs lmao.

I shall run the front panels like this.

bLkwIq2.png

Looks the best IMO. The top is very thick.

As I suspected Gamer's Nexus and Jay didn't mention the quality at all. Why would they? they wouldn't appreciate it. As such their negative attitude about it made me want it even more. As it stands the quality is sublime as I have come to expect from Lian Li.

One good thing is I don't have to change much of anything. I have decided on layout. 4 120 in, two 120 on the rad for the GPU mounted in the side, then three on the top taking air out. Meaning I don't have to take much of anything to bits.

The over engineered screw kit made me smile too lol.

Afternoon all. So last night I very begrudgingly stripped down all of the work I had spent three days doing LOL. Curse of the 1000 cable ties ffs. Any way, I messed around and got some done. The front fans are in. For some reason it fooled me into thinking I could get 4 in there, but it actually takes 3. This is fine, it is more than enough.

QKkAoPv.png

I don't have the last 3 yet, so I put one up top for now. It has been blacked on the exhaust side like those front ones. I need to do that to two more.

And.

Very happy so far, though it may need a mod. I don't want the PSU cable cover thing covering the PSU, I want it perfectly lined up with the end. I don't think that is going to happen unless I drill a new hole in it to move it forward a bit more. IDK, will have a measure up in a minute and see what my options are.

Got over today to mum's. Sheesh man, that was like torture ! I had so many things here I had bought.

I now have all the parts, plus some others. Firstly the Thor is a bit cheeky from Asus tbh. Not all of the cables are braided black. Like for example, only two of the PCIE cables are braided, the third (which I need, annoyingly) is just a stock broke ass one lol. As such I bought enough of this.

cKbMQEg.jpg

To braid those 8 wires. Even more annoyingly the tool I need broke due to some serious use on Modular. Wasn't a problem, they are only a fiver and they work so damn well I got another. That is here now too.

Q5ZdkiB.jpg

PSU weighs a ton. Never seen anything like it tbh.

I guess that is all for today, but one thing. In his readiness to slag off the case Steve at GN totally missed the fact that there are numerous holes along the inside bottom lip. So you can indeed move the PSU end cap, and in the pic up there I have it at exactly 160mm, which is the length of the PSU. This concerned me as I don't want to cover 1mm more of the PSU than I need to as I absolutely want to bloody see it after paying that sort of money lmao.

I got some fan covers to cut too, the 3M vinyl is also here.

OK so today I had a bit of a choice to make. Take the cable apart and braid the wires in paracord, whilst also repinning the GPU side wires (as they were piggy backed) or, come up with something else. I would have done the former as I have the paracord, but then I noticed one of the wires was doubled and I just wasn't in the mood. I then realised I had tons of those Super Flower cables left in black, and, some were already made into doubles. And so.

0yTWtUv.png

I have held it up next to the Asus cables and it just looks a bit shinier but otherwise the same. That will do for me. I have to make some fan stickers in a bit, and then that will be the bits done here.

OK so I got home yesterday afternoon. I then started work. Contrary to belief you CAN move the PSU shroud. At this point I had all of the fans in (ignore the one in the floor, that will become permanent later when my mate prints me a stand) and it was up and running.

Ie8rdq1.png

I can't change the PSU colour because none of the splitters and connectors I have are those ghastly horrid ones. You know? this crap.

R8bkS7i.jpg

Well, aside from the ones on the mobo. As such I needed that to connect it, so I have ordered it. Should be here later, then I can 100% finish it for now. Like I said, I would like a fan mount for the last fan and I want to make a cover for under the bottom of the rad to hide those cables from view. Talking of which. I did the best I could.

0V0ZFQY.png

That said I am more than happy with it. The way the rig stands you won't see it any way.

maICyxX.png

All of the neons are now fitted. I broke down Modular last week as I am giving a friend the internals (well, all of it but the GPU, that is going to another mate) and I wanted my desk back. The case is proudly on display now. Any way, couple more.

QRGhCzH.png

tNuLYuM.png

As you can see I made a decal too.

God I am stupid. I ordered the splitter last night, then checked the PSU box again. It came with a 3 pin locking cable as well ffs. Thankfully Lian Li include a lot of splitters with their fans for the RGB, and they break out from 4 pin to a 3 pin too. What caught me off guard (and why it ended up back in the box) was the connector from the PSU only has two wires. Then it dawned on me that it's because it nicks its 5v from the PSU. DOH.

As such another hour rolling around on the floor was enough to finish it. And man, it's stunning.

My PC is ready, my game key is ready, my wallpaper is ready and my body is ready. BRING ON THE ZOMBIE CURB STOMPING !

Update. It fitted fine.

Also added the 6950XT.

Yesterday I bought a waste of sand :D IE, I bought an 11700KF for £140. This should allow the Tachyon to stretch its legs a bit.

Well that got interesting real fast....

I didn't realise when I got the AIO cheap AF that you could not control the rainbow farts. Normally I would let this go, as cheap, but it is really annoying me now. I thought about disabling them but it is very risky, as they are part of the pump control board. Meaning cut the wrong wires? lose the pump. I then thought about blacking them out and adding a real ring, but pain.

Then it happened.

So today I got paid, and thought "WTF just get another AIO". Thought about the Thermalright I got for the PUBG rig, then it happened...

b1aTb8W.png

This rig has been a funny one. No matter how hard I have tried to waste money every single part in it cost less than half price.

OK that arrived at mum's yesterday. Going over on Sat.

I wanted to buy some kryonaut. Normally I would not bother, but in this case yeah it was nagging me. It is very thick, and will be able to cope with the cold better.

shXcr28.png

It was like £7.99 or something. Any way, OCUK have a min order for free shipping now. It was £4.50. I found this for £19 B grade.

eHWYIph.png

Which got me free shipping. So it cost me £14.50. At that price? gotta be done eh.

I expect the thermal grizzly will be totally fine, last time around i went with the newest version of arctic silver 5 omg thick is an understatement it's solid stuff once applied i found this out when trouble shooting the new bios i had and so when re-socketing at the time it pulled it out of the socket. Still temps are decent and i'm happy with my solid 4.85Ghz OC I think tbh that is about the limit i'd like to push 24/7 gets the job done.

I do wonder how long it'll be until all PSU cables will be rgb and while they are at it just do the sata cables as well not like they will stop there before you know it the whole case will be rgb and i do mean whole lol

Yeah the thick almost blu tak ones are the ones you want for sub ambient. They are more of a gum than a grit filled paste.

Not looking good on the 11700KF. The post office said it was out for delivery 3 days ago and it is still saying the same.

If it doesn't arrive I will get a refund. Mostly because the 11400F is more than good enough, and the chiller will work far better on it.

The cable? yeah I hear they can be a pain. Very clunky. I think Dice used to use them aaaages ago. Thing is there is tons of space in the back side of the case, so why not. This thing has turned into my poser rig basically. They do do a 24 pin but they are about £60. Not paying that, given it side loads and you see hardly any of it any way.

Well that was mad.

I had to go out to do a lot of stuff on Friday to get ready for my holiday. Went to Sports Direct and got some Airwalk. Nice and cheap. Went into Specsavers and got some prescription sunglasses for the first time in 11 years, then into a couple of other shops before going to the post office.

It was closed.

My depot only open 8-9am now for collections. TF? Thankfully they open 4-6 on Thursday too, so I will have to go in then to collect a HDMI cable I bought.

Any way, I got home around 1pm. No post. Nothing. Did all of the housework and washing etc, still nothing. Around 6pm the seller of the 11700KF messages me saying it has been delivered and how relieved he is. Eh? go down and sure enough there it is FFS. 24 hour tracked and signed for just lobbed through the letterbox.

What the heck is going on in RM at the moment?

Got over to mum's last night. Cooler and paste and Strimer all here. Will take those back on Thurs and get to work next weekend.

OK. This was not supposed to happen until today but you know how new and shiny go.....

I got home around 1pm yesterday and set to work. It took many hours to reach this stage.

KkmZPY4.png

At which point I realised the pump was upside down. Oops. Removed it and put it up the correct way, then spent many more hours sodding around. Eventually I got there.

tV5Zs20.png

And I am very happy. Sorta kinda.

The good.

It looks ace (IMO).

The horror stories about it guzzling power whilst just sitting there are untrue. Well, unless of course they have optimised it since. It uses no more power than a regular AIO at idle, and even with the 11700KF now in there it is the same as it was before. So that's good.

It works. Tremendously well. I saw idles of 17c last night (trust me, it was extremely hot in here) and when overclocking I got it to 5ghz very easily on all cores. Like, very easily. Max temp was 72c. Which is pretty amazing, given these are known to hit 95 very fast.

The cooler can obviously dissipate a lot of heat. The CPU was drawing well over 200w and it still remained at a very sensible temp level.

£55. Superb value.

The bad.

Yup, the CPU likes power. A lot of power. Can't blame the cooler for that, though. The cooler also likes power when the CPU does. I don't mind this, though. It uses around 140w by the look of it capped out. Power prices are dropping on Oct 1, so I am not worried about it in any way.

The pump noise is absolutely horrendous. It wires straight into a SATA power connector and I know it is running 12v. I can tell because you can literally hear it whipping the coolant into a froth in there. This is a pain, due to the SATA connector.

The Lian Li Strimer is a bit crap. I mean, it works, but yeah it's a bit crap. Glad it was only £19, and it does add some light so whatev.

The fix.

r5kU3Ov.png

That will allow me to try it at 12v, 7v and even 5v. I just hope the cryo suite does not sniff for pump speed. I don't think it does, because obviously you can put it on any header (the sensor wire) on the board. I think the quick test will be remove the tacho PWM wire and see if it complains.
