The crate.

OK so that's done.

Vroom vroom !

I just need to remember not to climb on it and try and ride it down a hill.

Sadly I can't paint the frames because the wheels are riveted in.

Well it kinda got delayed. Had a funeral the day after I did the wheels and packed it, where every one got Covid :(

Wasn't too bad in honesty, just very tired. Problem is the lack of energy + half built PC up 104 steps = bad. There is no way I would have made it up, and besides I wanted to make sure I wasn't testing positive before going home as I don't want to pass it around.

Am going home tomorrow. I think I have sorted a new (well, used) PSU too. The Gigabyte one has an annoying click (it may be the fan, gawd knows) and they say the fan is a 135mm. Which is poo of course, but I can't order one for it based on that* and besides the caps on the wires are bloody irritating. Plus I used my only test spare when doing Modular, so I need a spare.

* I have a feeling it is a 140, BUT, like my Enermax could have 120mm mounting holes. Which was a pain in the ass.

Finally home.

I will start playing later. I did buy the PSU. It is this one.

850w gold, cost £35 shipped.

Well it is used. But yeah, it was a great price.

Have got a lot done today, but it has been quite dark so the pics look a bit poo.

Cooler is installed and I installed the fan on it. Sadly I could not have it so that the nice alu side plate shows. This was because the fan connector/RGB lump thing fouled the clips that hold it on.

u6rJwQV.jpg

Since then I have wrapped and installed the SSDs, as well as the SATA cables etc. I also put the RGB in, as it turned out I could loop them into the fans without buggering around much more.

Next job will be installing the PCIE cards, GPU rad fans and eventually the GPU.

Well buggeration. The GPU hits the CPU cooler. I sometimes wonder who designs all of these cases tbh. I mean really, do they not even TRY and fit an air cooler with the GPU vertical?

This would not be an issue IF the GPU didn't stick up so much. But it does, and tbh? so do most of them now. After faffing with it all day and removing the cooler and thinking about modding the case I gave up. It simply isn't going to work, and I simply CBA hacking the case to bits.

I started looking around, and I found this for £23.

CZokq0v.jpg

Which is a staggeringly low price. I watched a review of a guy testing it with a 12600k, so it should have more than enough cooling capacity. What I really like is the way it fits. Instead of hogging your RAM space it raises over the VRM cooling, so I should be fine.

The good thing is the fan will no longer be impeded badly like it was by the RAM.

5FiIY0T.png

It also comes with two sets of fan clips. One for the low profile fan it uses (which I will ditch) and one for a normal 25mm fan. Which for the price is amazing, and the grey part looks so much better than the black extruded plastic top on the Cryorig. I reckon it will look way better being able to see the whole fan too.

Thank F for that.

Spent all night and all of today worrying it would hit those ridiculous board sinks lol.

FcIi6G6.png

So yesterday afternoon I fitted the GPU. Do note, at this point there was no PSU.

qXKjQ66.png

Not only does it fit like a glove it also leaves lots of room to work in there. I can access the RAM, SSDs etc. I tell you what I absolutely love this case. It is nothing special, just steel (and a bit thin steel at that) and plastic but it looks much more expensive than it is and has tons of room. I would not suggest putting a GPU in the vertical mount like that if you intend to use the glass (and I do), but in my case the card is cooled remotely. IE by the rad. So it is fine. It's also amazing how you can dump a load of butt ugly PCIE cards in there and it hides them all.

Another note, since putting in the PSU I have added a lot more combs to the GPU wires. I will get more pics when the installing is all done and the setting up and testing. Again another note, I have had no time to sync the RGB right now and nor can I be bothered.

So last night I grew impatient and fitted the 750w PSU. And guess what? no clicking. I have a strange feeling it just did not like Threadrippers, which is what it has always powered. I took a chance and fully wired it properly, and thank the lord it booted first time.

Please excuse the mess. It is the weekend, and I have been doing lots of wash. Just need to put that away lol.

Few rig pics of rainbow farts.

You can see the GPU cables better in that shot. They look bloody brilliant.

EKyXxdd.png

I have just installed PUBG on it and will use that to test it properly tonight. It is about the most torturous piece of software I have lol.

Well at least it wasn't daytona and game over yeah LOL

I do wonder with you when the next iteration will come along thou :P

Overall it turned out nice i feel :)

My replacement drive works so all 14 drives running now 34.25tb next step 4x2tb ssd's had to order some molex to sata cables as all my sata are used up lmao, it'll take me a moment to get them all, only drive i'm hoping switches correctly is the system drive i'll leave that one till last :D

Hopefully that's all of them dragged up to date. I never bother with PCs once spring comes. All about the bikes then :D

Remember how I said it was done? I sorta lied.

For ages and ages now I have been drooling over the Lian Li Odyssey X. I don't care what Gamer's Nexus have said about it. Any way, I just haven't been able to muster up the amount of cash they cost (£400) due to everything shooting up in price. I guess I could have saved for it, but that would have meant waiting ages.

Today I woke up to find an extra £1300 in my bank account. And it is all totally legit. As such I caught up, sent my mother £300 for her holiday (I have paid half) and bought some clothes (boring, but sensible) and yeah, have just been sitting around all day contemplating buying crap. And then I remembered I really wanted a OX.

Had a look around but they have only dropped to £370. Whilst I now had more than enough cash I have always bought stuff based on price. I know for a fact the quality will be unmatched, because my 012 is absolutey incredible. And then it happened.

£220 on Ebay. Guy bought it, opened the box and never built into it.

As it happens I did not want the black one. Mostly because it is very dark. I also bought black/grey cable extensions, so yeah that was a no brainer.

It looks like this.

FR2XwRb.jpg

But I will not be running it that way. I want to run it as I am running the TUF now. Like this.

ZIFNKdC.jpg

But with the glass closed. This gives me a great chance to fit the 850w PSU too, as I got impatient. I have it now. All seems to work perfectly, just a little dusty. So I can pull that apart and give it a nice clean.

Didn't take long for you to rebuild :D

Still it's a nice case, I think i was in the end lucky with the 750D all turned out nicely in the end, but oh my was i worried when needing to repair things thinking is it even possible :)

Looking at the case gun metal would be my choice with it seems more silver.

Installing many games think my ISP will hate me for it and i have many to get done but Resident evil 4 friday ready to play at the weekend :D

I'm glad you sorted that case out. I could have helped if I wasn't friggin miles from you lol.

Let's sing a song.

Half a pound of alu-min-ium, half a pound of cables, that's the way the mo-ho-ney goes, POP goes the budget :D

Well actually that may be a very slight exaggeration. What happened was this. First off I need a vertical mount. Obviously the TUF has one, but the OX does not. And I want that GPU vertical. Thankfully the back plane PCIE slots are open with the covers removed, so I got the Lancool 2 kit. This is open box, cost me £40. I then need to use the other riser for the Revodrive, as I am not using the sound card. I bought this the other day on a flash sale on Amazon for £29.99 down from £100. The mic is crap, but the titanium drivers and hi res DAC on it are brilliant.

g9uwmLV.jpg

Any way, so this is the riser kit I got.

W2b9CDd.png

I then wanted moar fans. I mean why not right? these I did have to pay up for. These cost me £45. Which I was happy with, because the last ones were half price so I got 6 for that much.

6EyFPZV.png

The only other thing bothering me was the PSU cables. Normally I wouldn't give a toss, because you can hide all sorts of atrocities. Problem is with this case? you can't, at all. This turned into a two hour rabbit hole. With me first pricing up PSUs and custom cable kits (oucho) to me then deciding on one out of two PSUs. First up the ROG Loki. Obviously it is SFX, but that doesn't matter too much. What did concern me with that though was the length of the cables. I then saw the Thor 850, so it came down to price.

As I was deliberating though? this popped up on OCUK open box for £154. Which was an absolute no brainer.

YXOUwRC.png

I also decided last night no to use the case as in the second pic. Because you have to bow out the side panels and I don't like that.
