Hey!

Just to add that I got my 2 8800GT's now. Quite a bargain from Novatech actually.

Also another question to you all.... Am I ok to go higher on the memory? Or do I need to stick to PC6400 on this motherboard? Im not too sure.

If I can go higher what do you all recommend??

hmmm, wouldnt it be wise to get B3 stepping processor, heard they clock better... anything with Phenom 9x50 at the end :) other than that seems to be very nice rig indeed.

It's been a while since I saw an AMD build log - I'll be keeping an eye on this. Good luck with the project.

Same, ill be interested what performance and overclocking you can get, agreed on the xx50 cpu idea though

Cheers everyone, I will post more updates as soon as possible plus also many pics.

So just to get it clear I am better off getting a xx50 phenom rather than the 9600? Will that be ok with my motherboard??? The AMD website restricted me to the Phenom 9600 (HD9600WCJ4BGD)(HD9600WCGDBOX),2.3GHz,95W,SocketAM2+,Quad-Core.

If that is the case then I can really unleash this beast with something more powerful as the last time I upgraded was when the AMD XP 2700+ came out. So loooong time ago and well overdue.

Over to you guys

Hello people,

So as per my last posting I am still building up my components. All looking good so far with all new stuff that is coming out but got to the same technical question as the last...

I hear that AMD have now brought out the Phenom 9950!?! Will that be compatible with my mobo??? If so then I will get that (if there are no strange new AMD quirks with it).

Looking forward to ya opinions guys n gals!

OK I am too thinking about building a AMD Quad-Core spec system. Which is the best Phenom on the market and is there anyway a review could be done on the a Phenom which doesn't come with the bug.

Anyone have any ideas if they are compatible?? Im looking to buy asap so would like some advise hopefully today please.

Yes the 9950 Black Edition will work on the current motherboard, but also if i were u id do a bios update just incase.

Hi all,

List now updated with new hardware which will be ordered very soon.

Once all is delivered I will start with the pic taking during building the animal.

Just ordered my new AMD Phenom 9950. Will get and take some pics of it next week.

Any ideas if it will be possible to run dual monitors running SLi with my 2 new 8800GT's???? I'm hoping it is possible???

Cheers

That AMD rig of yours will be rock solid I hope.

Can you also give us a bit of a review on that 9950 and also how it overclocks.

should be possible

altho you should have gone crossfire :p lol

but yeah, can be done :)

Although there have been problems with SLI Dual monitor set ups. This will be fixed in the NVIDIA Big Bang driver release in September.
