TFT Screen Probs (green lines!) :(

Hey Guys,

I just bought a new TFT (formac gallery FGDR1900-3U) screen but theres green lines all over the place when I'm watching movies / dark areas of the screen..

I have tried changing my graphics card drivers but the problem persists..

Is my screen broken? :(

I have an old nVidia 5900Ultra... maybe its because of this?

system spec:

Abit AV8- 3rd eye (KT800 Ultra chipset iirc)

corsair memory

MSI FX5900Ultra AGP(current driver version is 81.98.. although I did have the latest before).

Personally i'd say that it's broken. However, you don't have anything magnetic (like speakers) near the screen do you?

:( I did have my dell speakers next to it, but they are shielded.

I think it's broken too... I was thinking of taking it in work tomorrow and trying it on one of the PC's there... maybe it *is* my graphics card. I'll know for sure once I test it.

Ye thats ur best bet before RMA'ing it.

P.S: Nice pu55y...cat ;)

do you run it through d-sub or dvi cable ?

have no experience of d-sub but read about some monitors needing to be calibrated to show the right colours.

do you have the problem in games to or only when watching videos ?

which resolution and refresh rate do you run it on ?

Hmm... seems like the LCD tbh. BTW nice video card, cool to see someone has a leet vintage card like the 5900U ;)

Hey Raven,

It's running via the DVI connection.. it's running at it's native screen res of 1280x1024 at oem refresh rate 60Hz... I have tested the screen on my friends Acer Laptop and PC system and the exact same problem occurs. it's the screen! also if I may, I have posted a link to this thread to the suppliers so they can view the pictures.

cheers.

:( That totally sucks mate. Did you buy it locally or online and have it shipped in? Whichever way, they shouldnt have a problem exhchanging it out for you after describing the problem and testing it on multiple computers.

I've never heard of the brand... How much was it and how big? You might think about trying something with a better brand name perhaps. Dell's are highly highly recommended. Other brands that I trust are ViewSonic, Sceptre, Hyundai, and Samsung.

Hey!

formacs are well known around my uni... I'm doing a graphic-esque type course and we use a couple of these screeens too. one of the main reasons I decided to go for the formac, something I've enjoyed using!

I purchased the screen from an online supplier that I've used to buy nearly all my goods (despite working in a computer shop myself - the discount sucks!):p

I did think about going down the Dell route but my budget didnt stretch that far :( Also, I was going to purchase the Viewsonic VX2025wm but figured my pc wouldn't be able to handle the screen res when playing CSS! 1680x1050

Anyhow, I've just 'done' the RMA thing and it's due collection on Tuesday... according to the site, I'll get a full refund too! :)

Pity about your screen mate, but one bad item out of the gear you have purchased previously isn't too bad. And at least your supplier is providing a full refund...all the best :)
