Strange buzzing noise coming from Asus Strix 980 after long session gaming, on idle.

Hello. I have actually Corsair 750 RM and Asus Strix 980. But i have a problem...
I have a wierd buzzing noise coming from my system. The noise is not very loud, but just loud enough to indicate that something is wrong. The noise comes and goes and I've pinppointed that the sound is coming from my PSU area.

It sounds like a bug is buzzing around... you know the sound a fly makes when it hits an indoor window and tries to escape... sounds like that.. just not quite as loud.
The noise will happen ALWAYS when I exit a game after long session gaming, and wait couple seconds on idle.
Only after long session gaming ( on idle ), not during games.
When fans slowing down on idle before they turn off for the "0 dB" mode , then i am hearing buzzing noise for a few seconds.
Why that noise is after long session gaming not during gaming? Can somebody explain me ?
Its normal or i must RMA it?
Its similiar noise , listen:

This link of course is for example. In my situation that noise is after gaming on idle , and is for about 3-4 seconds. Please help me. Thank you.

I hope you find a solution to your issue soon! :)

For 99% i know its graphic card.
Mine card seem to not buzzing when I start a game but the buzzing starts after a couple of seconds after gaming ,when the fans turn off for the "0 dB" mode. Is this normal? Can somebody explain that why?
I tested my pc with PRIME95 and after stopping torture test i dont hear that noise. Only after long session gaming ( on idle ) i can hear a buzzing coming from i think graphic card.

yes system is stable

ANYone to help?

I can play 24 hours without buzzing noise. Everything is fine when i am playing. But when i close game and then ( on idle ) after couple of seconds i can hear a buzzing noise coming from i think GPU. When fan slowly goes from RPM 50% to 0% and on 0% i can hear buzzing noise. Noise goes away after 1-2 second.Sorry for my bad english. Its something bad with card then? Generally after I've played a game it seems to start making noise, so as soon as I've shut down the game the noise starts. Noise goes away after 1-2 second. Simply when I go back to windows and the card fans decrease to 0% ,buzzing noise starts and after 1-2 seconds disappears completely. Let me be absolutely clear. The noise does NOT occur while I am playing.
Could it be a noise produced by the heat pipes cooling down? Other ideas?
Obviously the noise is not much of a problem, but I am worried that it could be the telling sign of problems to come (the computer, however, has so far worked very well).
I am thankful to every soul who would help me with this little puzzle.
What can it be?

What you are describing could be one thing. It's called coil whine. Basically the power delivery system of your card (sometimess and how it co-operates with the power supplies) has a flaw and does this annoying noise. Some people get it when they are gaming some others when the card is on idle.
You could try to claim warranty for the card but since the noise isn't that loud I don't believe they will replace the card

Had a similar "noise" with my R9 290X, after a few days it went away as the cards settled in, l would generally get it during high fps on a menu screen or when benching.

The caps would sqeal and sound awful, as l bought the card second hand l was initially concerned however she is pretty sold, and it only sounded worse as l removed the stock cooler and fitted a NZXT + H55.

A few GTX 970/980 have been reported on several forums having "coil" whine. This has also been present on cards with coil whine reduction been carried out on them.

The number of cards with the zero noise grantee being returned has been quite small.

See if you can return it and get a replacement as stated by Thelosouvlakia.

I am not talking about coil whine\ buzzing during gaming. I am talking about buzzing after i have played games. ( on windows ).

Let me explain....
I have noticed a electrical buzzing noise coming from what I think is my Asus Strix 980 as the noise has only become apparent since installing it.

It always happens after I have been playing games and when the card is cooled down to 0% fan .

It only usually lasts 2-3 seconds. It almost sounds like a buzzing noise ( wasp noise bzzzzzzzz ).
And it's never under load. It just buzzing noise after card its been used heavily. ( idle - windows )

Any ideas what it is? Anybody experienced something like this?
I dont know if it is normal. Buzzing in 3d i understand. But i have buzzing after heavy load ( games )right after on windows.

Sorry misunderstood, this is a new one on me. I get something similar on one of my fan controllers if the voltage is just off min on my fans. The fans would buzz.

The original controller was a NZXT Sentry Mesh, and after fitting a NZXT Sentry 2 this is no longer a problem.

It could be as the fans spin down on reduction of V or I the fans "buzz" until they reach Zero V or I.

Just a quess.

All cards will emit coil whine, its just that most of the time, it is so quiet that you will not hear it, and manufacturers place in capacitors and few other bits around the coils which help to reduce this effect to acceptable limits.

Sometimes there are a few that get through the cracks in the manufacturing process that have the whine at levels which can be heard, this is due to fact of heat expansion (there for the length of the coil is changed but is still has the same number of turns wrapped around the ferrite rod (Usually made of carbon / graphite), which then alters the resistance of the electrics) and unfiltered powered. Technically there is nothing wrong with the cards, its just annoying to hear which is why an RMA is usually declined unless it is found to be at unacceptable levels.

In the video I can hear some buzzing noise that stops near the end btu I also hear the clicking noise. You only mean the buzzing? What about that clicking ?
