[Staff Project] NZXSPC

While this is really cool stuff, I rather feel saddened that you've gone ahead and removed virtually all color by what I can tell.

Pretty much all my previous work has been "high contrast high colour". With this I wanted to do something different and go low key. Hence the reason for all the colour being removed.

I like the fact its subtle, theres actually more going on with this rig but it just needs looking for.

Its a grown up mod IMHO.

The Water block looks the bomb now :D My next build is definitely going to be a stealthy one thanks to this :) It's looks very proffesional

It's really well done, and I can certainly understand where you're coming from; I have a strong preference to slightly desaturated colors for one.^_^

Cheers Tom, that means the world to me coming from you.

I'm hoping "the bomb" = good yeah?
If so, many thanks :)

Thank you. I think we all go through phases with our modding, sometimes following a fashion, and sometimes wanting to try something we've not seen done before (boy is that getting hard).

Hehe. Well, what I'm basically saying is that I'd probably have added something ala a sort of lime-like color, or a color much similar to the masking tape as it appears in the picture. Though probably less sharp tones. But you sort of get the idea, I think. Maybe you'll get the color effect out of LEDs combined with white lighting alone, what do I know.

But I don't presently have the skill for the stuff. Never once had the opportunity to do a lick of paint on computer case or anything. Anywhere you'd suggest to get me started on that perhaps? :B Think I have a decently good case for a paint job with the 600T here, if I so desire.

The paint is dry and the masking is off the GPU so time to get it back into the case, plumbed up and leak tested.

Masking removed, Not the best masking job i've ever done, but it was functional rather than aesthetic anyway.

All cleaned up and ready to re join the GPU.

A sneak peak of the black back plate in situ.

If only I could find the words to describe this.. hopefully these two sum it up...

"F*cking Beautiful"

I quite like it too :)

Now tell me it wasnt worth it dubs!

Say thank you to uncle TTL for being picky............

Oh yes, it was worth it and yes, thanks for gently nudging me in that direction.

 Awesome build :dribble:

Cheers matey, and we're not done yet

Mod On

Small update today.

The XSPZ Raystorm CPU black comes with a lighting kit which has 2 Blue LEDs which fit into recesses in the block allowing you to have a rather nice ambient glow to the acrylic area of the block. Now there's nothing wrong with it at all, in fact the blue is quite a nice colour, but as we've gone to such efforts to remove the blue then it wouldn't really be in keeping with the theme. Basically it's got to go.

A quick visit to the bay saw me with a good slack handful of white 3mm LEDs so out with Mr Soldering iron.

A quick bit of braiding (God I love braiding) and we've now got some white LEDs which will match the white NZXT kit we used a treat.

Following on from the lighting mod we're also going to be changing the colour of the XSPC reservoir cover. The black it comes in is pretty sweet, along with the silver, but we need something that's going to better match in with the black and gunmetal we're using.

Thankfully as you get 2 res covers we can make two versions, one matt black and the other gunmetal.

My intention is to go with the Gunmetal but the black is in there just in case.

one in the new black and one in the gunmetal. Also shown is a 5.25" bay blank in gunmetal to match (I did a black to match but not shown here)

Now we couldn't really do the res cover and not colour code the hex bolts could we.

Had to find a way of holding them to spray them and this is what I usually do. Also avoids getting paint on the thread.

Undercoat then matt black top coat. The paint has penetrated all the way into the heads, what looks like grey patches is just the light reflecting off the wet paint.

Awesome awesome work!! :)
I'm planning on getting the same case except in white and going with a white and blue theme... Hope someday to do the same watercooling as you (love the way you hid the ssd and hdd)
