Hey Team,
Been doing some research into SSD's as I'm possibly looking at getting a couple more to Phase out/Minimise my mech storage especially to keep my super important stuff on them.
And during the course of my research I've come to realise that a Secure Erase needs to be done every so often for longevity of the Drive as well as sustained performance.
I've tried a couple of different options to do this-
-HDDERASE
-Parted Magic
I have a 120gb Kingston SSD Now and on the Kingston website they recommend HDDERASE, I got it all set up went through the motions and when it comes to the screen to select your Drive/Drives it comes up blank with no options. I actually let it sit for 15min just incase.
And because HDDERASE wouldn't work I looked for another that being Parted Magic. And well once I got into the erase feature it did display my drives but I was unable to select them and they were marked as "Frozen" there was an option to put my PC to sleep to try unfreeze my drive which I tried but was unsuccessful.
Has anyone before encountered this issue? If so would anyone happen to know how to get around it? Or is anyone able to point me in the direction of another alternative?
