New system
Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro Wifi 1.1
Ryzen 5 5600x fluctuates upto 4.6Ghz
DDR 4 2x16GB of 3600Mhz
3x8TB Ironwolf Nas Drives in Raid 0
1xM.2 1TB boot/gaming drive
I was using a B450 MSI Gaming Pro Carbon with a Ryzen 5 3600 and all was ok, but wanted an upgrade of CPU and an extra PCIe x16/x8 slot
I have an NEC N8103-150 (LSI 9267-8i) raid card, it worked on the MSI board but i needed the spare PCIe X8 slot for a 10G network card so never really used it for longer then a few weeks.
It also works fine on an older generation intel based Crosshair VII board
Ended up going with the 5600x + a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro Wifi as it was an affordable option with extra PCIe slots and supported the 5000 series out of the box.
Have had hit and miss success with Gigabyte in general in the past but that withstanding. Here's where the issue started
The LSI card slots in and on first boot it was showing in bios but the computer wouldn't get past the logo screen once exiting.
Reboot, PC just hangs on the logo, won't even go into the bios.
Reboot again, and it booted but no way to enter any raid setup, just booted to windows
Reboot again, changed an optionrom for "non" storage devices but that seemed to work, setup the raid albeit the setup page was extremely laggy and no USB mouse support
Reboot to finalise. Once again PC wont get passed the logo screen.
Reboot, same deal...
Take the card out, everything boots as it should. The card works in an older Asus Intel board i have, so it's definately not the card itself.
So the question is has anyone got one of these to work on a similar gigabyte board? Done abiit of googling after the fact and they seem to be hit and miss on working with raid cards.
On Gigabyte in general, this is definately the last time i take a chance. Nothing they can do will change my opinion but it is what it is. 'Caveat Emptor'
